Overall Satisfaction with Quick Base

  • The entire organization uses Quick Base, and it does EVERYTHING for us.
  • CRM
  • Tee Time Management - allows both staff, members, and the general public the opportunity to access our tee sheet, 24 hours and day, seven days a week.
  • Event Management - All event details are captured on an application, and it allows us to manage who, when, what, where, and why they will be at our facility.
  • Asset Management - Our complete fleet of everything is captured in Quick Base. Quick Base allows for quick updates to all moving stock from golf carts to mowers to the chairs in the dining room. We know precisely when, where, and for how much, plus allows us to plan for depreciation and obsolescence.
  • Versatile - Can be built for pretty much any application or data capture need.
  • Fast - It loads fast, and although it's mobile interface was poor, it is being improved.
  • Mobile Interface - although it is getting better, and although mobile and tablets are leading edge for user interface with most applications, Quick Base does have some work to do to improve their mobile presence.
  • A little Complicated - Although it is advertised as a no-code database, the fact is you will require some expertise to get full value from this powerful software.
  • We have achieved this goal with every application that we build and deploy. However, this is not to say there are not challenges, or that the operation of the applications are flawless.
  • The success of deploying applications will be based on the ability of the programmer.
  • So it is yes to being able to deploy an application quickly, but will it perform equal or better than a stand-alone solution, again, depends on the ability of your application builder.
  • Improving our ability to drive insights from our data
  • Solving a specific business challenge
  • Building and deploying an application (or multiple applications) that meets our exact needs
  • Yes, all of our needs are specific, and we have found Quick Base a reliable source and platform to create the applications that meet our needs.
  • That said, I have devoted considerable time learning the tricks and traps of Quickbase (and I have only scratched the surface), but it has been an eight-year journey for us.
  • If I knew eight years ago what I now know about Quick Base, the difficulties, and rewards, would I have started to use it in the first place? I would say yes because, at the time, there was no real alternative in an on-line database.
I would say that without some database structure knowledge, you will find Quick Base a challenging platform and probably not build the application with the results you envision. Although called no code, you will need some relevant skills to create an application that does more significant work than a simple spreadsheet.
We update our applications all of the time. A lot of our updating is because our knowledge and confidence in Quickbase has grown and we find ourselves capable of altering existing applications to make them easier to use, more robust, do more work, or to automate some current functions. I can honestly say we have never run into an issue as we updated an application. However, we are careful to maintain existing fields and data whenever we make a structural change.
Quick Base has been well suited for use in several different scenarios, but it requires a dedicated person who is capable of programming and managing the software.
It is excellent for simple lists but have found it not useful as a manipulative tool trying to derive comparative scenario's or data between records.
