Overall Satisfaction with QuickBase

Quickbase is being used by the largest department within our business, the Engineering Department. The apps we created were an engineering invoicing app and an expense form app for our engineers in the field. These applications solve the transition from paper invoicing systems and paper expense forms over to a digital solution. Quickbase has been wonderfully scalable and fairly straightforward to use from conception, creation, and even to implementation, rollout, and ongoing use. Our engineers are scattered across the entire United States and this is a useful web and in-solution for our needs in these areas.
  • Quickbase does a great job at providing a creative solution for those who are not fluent in a coding language but would still like to create an application 'from scratch'.
  • Quickbase is great at allowing the creation and management of multiple alerts, reports, and email reminders for multiple applications and users.
  • Quickbase is beautifully mobile and easy to use. It also has a great community aspect with the availability of other users' applications and suggestions.
  • I would like to see a new UI sooner rather than later. The current UI seems very 'early 2000s' and a little outdated.
  • Some of the functionality of Quickbase features are a bit hard to find or figure out how to use.
We have benefited from the ease of use that Quickbase offers in many forms (building, deploying, maintenance, etc.). I was able to create, implement, roll out, and maintain 2 applications for our entire Engineering Department on my own. And when I brought others onto the team, Quickbase was easy to teach from a user standpoint and an admin standpoint.
There are other programs such as Maintenance Connection, Jira, and smaller tracking solutions, that can accomplish similar goals. Quickbase has more flexibility and customization potential, but also falls short of some of the ease of use and UI look and feel. But with Quickbase I have more freedom on what I want each application to look like.
I developed, created, and implemented both applications the Engineering department uses. I am not a software developer but I am technologically savvy. I didn't need to use any in-house help, however I did ask Quickbase staff for help on how to change the color in the coding of a specific line and they were wonderfully helpful.
  • Improving collaboration across one or more teams
  • Solving a specific business challenge
  • Building and deploying an application (or multiple applications) that meets our exact needs
So far it has been easy to update and maintain existing applications. Depending on what type of application you are using, there are different ways to tweak and update one's own specific application, but between webinars, trainings, and knowledgeable staff, information is easily accessible.
Quickbase is great for any tracking or managing solutions. It would be less useful for media or production creation and solutions.

Evaluating QuickBase and Competitors

Yes - Quickbase replaced some paper processes and pdf signing programs.

Product features and usability extremely important in our decision making process because we were choosing products and building applications for people of all varieties of learning stages, technical knowledge, and in different generations. I needed to be able to develop a program that was clean and easy to use for anyone who used it.
I don't believe I would change my evaluation or selection process and still stand by the decisions to this day.
