Overall Satisfaction with QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise
I work with 8 different business in the construction industry. 5 of the companies I work with use QuickBooks Enterprise, the other 3 use QuickBooks Online. QuickBooks Enterprise has a much more robust reporting and inventory system, which was essential for the distribution companies that I work with.
- Inventory control.
- Reporting and analysis.
- Integration with 3rd party software solutions.
- QuickBooks needs a better system for tracking inventory turns.
- QuickBooks needs better cashflow modeling.
- QuickBooks has allowed us to better track our inventory from PO through sales distribution.
- The inability to work remotely has negatively affect my sales teams ability to check inventory and pricing "on the fly."
As we develop our inventory system, the advance inventory module has allowed us to enter specific warehouse locations, increasing the efficiency of our inventory throughout.
Setting up QuickBooks Enterprise is not for the faint of heart. There are several areas of design that need to be mapped out before implementation. QuickBooks is not very forgiving if you need to change accounting structure (i.e. adding divisions or cost centers).
Both are complicated systems to set up. Both have modular capabilities so you can add components such as payroll or job costing. Based on cost of system, QuickBooks Desktop is a much less expensive solution.
