Overall Satisfaction with QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise
We have utilized QB Desktop Enterprise for many purposes. It is our main tool for posting and processing bills, for creating quotes and invoicing clients. We also use the payroll feature and process our bi-weekly payroll as well as monthly government remittances via this tool. We use it regularly for job costing, for reference to past projects, for bank reconciliations and for our year end.
Pros
- Accounts payable.
- Accounts receivable.
- Payroll.
- Reconciliations.
- Quotes.
- Job costing.
Cons
- Creating Invoices as Progress Draws on total quote, not just a part of one or broken down.
- Job profitability reports allow us to see how a project has run.
- Payroll processing quickly.
- Higher cost for monthly subscription.
It has allowed us to report, review scopes and cost and utilize for future costing and quoting. It has also allowed us to attach back up so we can review quickly what impacted our costs, or where we could have profited. It has also allowed us to add additional users as we have grown, to utilize the functionality of the program. We do have some restrictions for estimators who should not have access to payroll info and financial info so have been careful to set them up accordingly.
The setup process for Quickbooks Desktop Enterprise was pretty simple. We have been using it now for a number of years so it is constantly a work in progress, adding new accounts, making accounts inactive, setting up and revising templates, using it's features to the full. The training process for new users usually requires a bit of patience. The functionality and ability to change everyone's records keeps us constantly reviewing tax postings, setup of new jobs, set up of new list items.
Payroll processing has been amazing. The change from hourly to salary is speedy and efficient. It allows us to accurately pay, report and remit without much need for calculation. The use of Bonus feature in the payroll function is great. The payment of bills, proper reporting and use of pdf documents which can easily be sent is very beneficial.
I have told Intuit when I've called in for Support for QuickBooks Online how much it lacks in function compared to QuickBooks Desktop. However the Enterprise version does more thank Desktop and so its functionality and ease is much more pleasing and useful. The reporting, the setup and the processing are all much easier and functional in QB Desktop Enterprise.
