Overall Satisfaction with QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise

Quickbooks Desktop Enterprise was our primary financial software for many years, and before that, we used Quickbooks Premier. After continued business growth, we made the decision to switch to another software. This was supposed to help us with our growth, but after two years, we could not overcome the shortcomings of the new software. We then switched to a third software, and after another year, we are not much happier with this one. If Quickbooks Desktop Enterprise had but a smidge more product features, mainly relating to multi-entity companies, we would probably never leave. We still maintain our historical data which I reference occasionally throughout the year. I would recommend this product over any other products at the moment and would not advise any customers to switch to a different product. This product combines the best ease-of-use software with advanced functionality that makes it the best choice for most organizations.

Pros

  • Bank accounts and Bank Reconciliations.
  • Credit Card accounts and reconciliations.
  • The ability to fix incorrect data in a sensible way.
  • Custom reporting features.

Cons

  • Multi-Entity companies.
  • Inventory.
  • Quickbooks Desktop Enterprise made financial processes faster and easier.
  • [I feel that] Quickbooks Desktop Enterprise does not do multiple entities very well and requires much manual work.
It was ok to a point, but then we needed to move to a different software. After 10 years with the product, our company file began degrading more routinely and our balance sheet would not balance. We had tried condensing our company file a few times to fix the errors as well as multiple rebuilds.
Quickbooks Desktop Enterprise was extremely easy to set up and implement. It is very user friendly and even without much training most of the basic functions are intuitive. You can start using it almost immediately. By comparison, our two following software products took months to set up and weren't that great even after that.
I'm not sure if any ways were unexpected. The ability to communicate with outside ticketing/software systems (such as Connectwise/TigerPaw) and sales tax (like Avalara) is very beneficial.
Using the financial reporting we can keep a good eye on the cost of sales to revenue being billed and our cost of labor, determining where things may be out of sync, such as a product being more costly now to maintain than in the past and a price increase may be in order. We can also see if something looks off and note any discrepancies or check into errors.
Quickbooks Desktop Enterprise is much better than either Intacct or NetSuite. The only issue is the lack of Multi-entity support with QB, and needing a better inventory solution. if you don't need that, stick with Quickbooks.

Do you think QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise's feature set?

Yes

Did QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise again?

Yes

It is well-suited to almost all organizations that don't require heavy inventory use or have multi-entities that they would like to see rolled up. For the more basic companies, I would recommend a Quickbooks Pro product, but Quickbooks Desktop Enterprise is great for medium and up companies that don't require the above-mentioned items.

Using QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise

3 - The owners of the business use this for prior historical financial comparisons. The controller also looks at financial data. The sales manager uses this to look at prior customer historical data and the things the customer has needed or wanted in the past, or to reach out to former customers to touch base and see if they may need our assistance again.
2 - Our systems engineer makes sure that Quickbooks is installed and running properly on our server and that access is available. The controller makes sure the software is updated when needed and performs any necessary repairs (which haven't been necessary in a while). It is quite easy to maintain and doesn't require extensive labor.
  • Customer has an old product and sales manager needs to see the specs and info for upgrade proposal
  • Owners need to see what the historical sales were in a prior fiscal year compared to the current fiscal year and make determinations
  • Controller looks at prior ratios of sales to labor and materials and determines if current ratios are in line
  • Sales manager looks at a former prior customer who may need a new replacement and reaches out to see if we can be of assistance
  • Quickbooks Desktop Enterprise has performed as expected, I wouldn't really say we have an unexpected or an innovative way it is used.
  • Incorporate QDE with Kaseya
  • Expand our QDE and Avalara integration
We need our subscription for historical data; in addition, there is a very good chance we will be moving back to Quickbooks Desktop Enterprise from our current software in the near future, as I have stated that QDE is better than the other two software products we went through. No longer heavily needing multi-entity reporting and having an outside ticketing system for inventory, QDE is the much better option and outperforms the other software in all aspects.
