Read&Write is specifically used to aid learners by helping them develop a foundation of assistive technology skills and strategies, giving them tools to work around their learning stretches.
Pros
- Speech to text - alleviating written output and spelling challenges
- Text to speech - alleviating text accessibility challenges for delayed readers
- Vocabulary look up - aiding reading comprehension and note taking
- Screen masking and Simplify - supporting focus and attention
Cons
- The extension / toolbar doesn't work with all websites.
- Audio maker is no longer as necessary as perviously, Audio books are readily available.
- Screenshot reader doesn't always work effectively.
- Improved learning
- Increased engagement
- Increased task completion
It's an important part of my daily practice with students
Accessing text through Text to Speech and documenting thoughts through Talk & Type is invaluable for learns who are challenged with literacy skills.
I think Read&Write is better for students.
