Overall Satisfaction with Renaissance Accelerated Reader

[Renaissance] Accelerated Reader was used across the middle school as a method to track student reading, comprehension, and progress. It was a great tool to get kids reading and create a "team atmosphere" between students to try and rack up the most AR points. [Renaissance] Accelerated Reader has SO many books included that our kids love to read and is always adding more to their list.

STAR assessments work well with [Renaissance] Accelerated Reader. The STAR assessment can inform students what material they will be able to comprehend and help guide teachers when they are trying to help students find books to read. STAR assessments also help teachers focus on comprehension and vocabulary skills which then lends to help students understand what they are reading and utilize [Renaissance] Accelerated Reader.

[Renaissance] Accelerated Reader is a wonderful program which can help monitor and track student progress as they read across the school year. Teachers can see what books their students are reading, what level of books they are choosing, and how well students are comprehending the material. It is great for students who are approaching, at, or above grade level. It is more difficult for students who are reading at 3 or more levels below grade level.

Evaluating Renaissance Accelerated Reader and Competitors

  • Product Usability
  • Product Reputation
  • Prior Experience with the Product
Product usability was huge! This was a product that we could utilize in many ways and that did not require a lot of training or additional work on teachers. This was a product that is easy to use and implement. We have a lot of success with STAR products and our elementary schools utilize Freckle and really like it
I was not part of the evaluation or selection process, so I would like to know what other products are available for use. I have not seen another product that is like [Renaissance] Accelerated Reader, so I am interested in learning about other options. Newsela and Achieve 3000 both use articles to measure comprehension, but do not have assessments over novels like accelerated reader
