Overall Satisfaction with Sage Intacct

Intacct is a very robust program. Its pro is that it gives you great visibility in all phases of workflow. However, it's very important to work with a competent consultant during implementation and system setup and reserve enough time to get fully trained and proficient with the program. There is a significant learning curve with Intacct. Allowing enough time to learn the program can help it reach its fullest potential, eventually saving time.

Pros

  • Approval Process.
  • Record keeping Process.

Cons

  • Integration with Sage Intacct is tricky with retaining all the detailed information.
  • Payment application and reversal are cumbersome.
  • Report design and budget input are not easy either.
  • Having to take another step, converting Google documents to Excel/Word is time-consuming and labor-intensive.
  • It facilitates the approval process and allows greater oversight and visibility for the disbursement process.
  • It helps organizing documents relevant to transactions for easier audit preparation.
  • It's helpful to assign tasks and see the progress of tasks from all team members, which helps supervisors manage the workflow better.
We haven't fully utilized Sage Intacct automation yet since we have had many issues with implementation and integration with Salesforce. The automation (synchronization) actually created many issues for us because of the mapping issues that our consultant caused. Unfortunately, we haven't fully experienced the benefit of automation yet at this point.
We did not have those modules.
Our configuration experience was awful, in my opinion. It caused a lot of chaos and pain. Our consultant didn't fully understand our process and chart of accounts to provide the best setup/configuration advice. The first attempt at implementation was a disaster because they mapped it wrong without knowing it. It was excruciating to have to learn the mistake while learning intact at the same time. We eventually had to undo and redo the implementation during the fiscal year.
We outgrew Sage 50, which is straightforward software. It doesn't have many drilled-down capabilities, but it's easier to learn and get proficient than Intacct. There is a more significant learning curve for Intacct, but there is also a more substantial benefit of having it. Intacct doesn't need an on-site server, which is easily accessible as long as there is internet. Once a person is proficient in Intacct, all tasks can be significantly facilitated.

Would you buy Sage Intacct again?

Yes

Getting a competent implementation consultant who knows Intacct and your existing practice and chart of account is extremely important. They can advise you on how to set up the system and help you transition from your existing system to Intacct. Reserving a lot of time to learn Intacct thoroughly or having training time is also essential to utilize Intacct to its full potential.
