Overall Satisfaction with Sage Intacct
Sage Intacct is our primary financial reporting system. It is also used for all AR and AP functions. We use the dashboard functionality for various statistical and financial accounts.
Pros
- Flexibility with custom built reports.
- Revenue recognition automated entries.
- Customizable dashboard options.
- Dimensionality usage that ties transactions to different account groups.
Cons
- Out-of-the-box reports often work correctly, and customer support rarely can troubleshoot without escalating to paid advisory services.
- Inflexibility in editing sent invoice info like company address and inability to back out payment and edit an invoice amount.
- The initial launch was not successful despite a paid integration package. Key items such as P&L and bank reconciliations were not consistently available for months after the project "closed." More project hours had to be purchased to complete these items.
- Yearly rate increases.
- Automated revenue recognition has allowed new product lines to be added without expanding the accounting staff.
- Live dashboard reports have saved hours each month in recurring report requests.
Recurring scheduled GL entries, as well as automated invoice penalties and tax calculations, have saved at least a dozen hours a month.
Contract management is our most used feature. As a new SAAS provider, we have been able to set up automated revenue recognition and invoice schedules that do a lot of the heavy lifting for our new accounting methods. I particularly like the customization of preset billing schedules, as that is an often-negotiated feature of our clients. Before Sage, we always had to have calendar reminders for irregularly scheduled invoices, but now Sage can schedule them.
Quickbooks is obviously simpler to use and has a lot more editing capability on the fly with reports and invoices. As it is such a widely used product, there are more answers available online. Sage has a more robust customization ability with report building and can automatically recognize revenue through the contract module. It also plugs in and works smoothly with sales tax collection.
