Overall Satisfaction with Sage Intacct
Having recently migrated from Sage 1000, Sage Intacct is now the accounting software we use for our medium sized business. We have moved from Sage 1000 due to its end of life, and have been exploring the more up to date options that Sage Intacct can provide. We were very much a traditional accounting function, with paper invoices and a sequential stamp to code invoices onto our purchase ledger. We were excited for the advancements and more user friendly options.
Pros
- Sage Intacct has connections with our bank accounts, which has allowed us to automate a huge part of our bank reconciliation
- It is much more flexible in the way that we can amend and update journals, accounting entries and have a deeper understanding of our facts and figures at the click of the mouse button
- After being on a server based solution for so many years (30+) it is a wonderful experience to be able to login from anywhere with our credentials. This has taken a large portion of pressure of our IT department by retiring our local data server hosting Sage 1000
Cons
- We have found certain parts of the system to be very "americanised" whereby they use colloquialisms and terminology specific to the USA. As we are a UK based company, we have no need for items like escrow or specific USA based requirements.
- The reporting functionality for our profit and loss accounts could be improved. We had the option within Sage 1000 to run the same report for all 120 branches across our company. Within Sage Intacct, we have had to set up 120 individual reports for all of our branches and automate the running of these with tasks which does seem like a step backwards
- Intacct has saved us roughly 20 hours a month with our Purchase ledger. This is also due to a third party piece of software called Lightyear which we have integrated into our Sage Intacct system
- We have also saved roughly 10-12 hours a month with our bank reconciliation. The ability to automate this has been a boon to our productivity.
We have automated parts of our purchase ledger which has saved us a number of hours each month along with the integration of a third party software supplier. Our Sales ledger has improved as it has allowed us to match invoices directly with the bank account through the bank feed which also allows us to automate a large part of our core accounting functions.
We have made use of the multi entity options by allowing us to more accurately see a consolidated snapshot of our company across all of our entities. This has ensured we can provide our financial accounts and auditors with more timely information in a far simpler way.
We migrated from Sage 1000 into Sage Intacct and the benefits are massive. Sage 1000 does not stack up to Sage Intacct in any way whatsoever, Intacct is so much more user friendly and compatible with our systems and processes that it cannot be compared at all.
