Overall Satisfaction with Salesforce Sales Cloud

We are a Salesforce partner. We have implemented Sales Cloud for numerous organizations. The business flow that is typically required is: web to lead or email to lead. After the lead is created then lead status is tracked and update in Salesforce. Once the lead shows interest, it is converted and an account, contact and opportunity are created. In the opportunity products are added, and quotes are created from Salesforce. The stages of Opportunity are updated by Sales persons. Salesforce is also used to track activities like tasks and events on the opportunities. Management has access to reports related to Opportunity and leads. This is a basic Sales cloud flow which is then customized based on business needs.

Pros

  • Management and customization of opportunity pipeline
  • Automation based on client needs
  • Lead management
  • Management of events and meetings
  • Keeping track of historical customers and opportunities

Cons

  • Enterprise edition can be pricey for small businesses
  • Professional edition and Group edition have limited ability to customize the functionality
  • Hiring Salesforce consultants can be expensive for small businesses
  • Sales cloud leads to a significantly higher visibility to Executive management of Sales pipeline and Sales person performance
  • Sales person can easily track all their opportunities and ongoing tasks and events
  • Automations if set up properly, can lead to significant time saving of sales teams time
Salesforce Sales Cloud is used be majority of Fortune 500 companies. This clearly demonstrates that it is able to handle a large scale of synchronous transactions in a secure fashion. The automation features using Flows and Apex can be used to build very complex automations based on business needs. We have implemented very complex automations successfully on Salesforce. Simple automations can be built in a very short time using
Salesforce Sales Cloud is more flexible and can be customized based on business needs. Other CRMs typically do not provide ability to perform so much customizations. Also out of the box functionality of Salesforce Sales Cloud is extensive and can fulfill most needs of small businesses. Due to these reasons, Salesforce Sales Cloud has emerged as a market leader in the CRM space.

Using Salesforce Sales Cloud

50 - Sales cloud is used across teams. Primary users are from Sales or Marketing departments.
The Sales users use Sales cloud to capture leads and then track their opportunity journey
The Marketing team use Sales cloud to capture campaign information, and also how track which leads are generated through the campaign. In addition the Executive Management uses Sales cloud to look at pipeline of Sales and strategize the Sales roadmap.

2 - To support Sales cloud users a few key skills are required.

1) Industry expertise: The consultant should have experience of the industry that the user represents to better understand what the requirements represent.
2) Business Analysis: The consultant should be able to ask the right questions, and document the requirements of what user needs.
3) Salesforce Administration: The consultant should be skilled in administering Salesforce. This requires skills like Flows, custom objects, Validation rules, Formula fields, Page Layouts, User Management.
4) Optionally the consultant should have development skills on the Salesforce platform. This includes skills like Apex development, LWC and integration.

  • Storing customer and partner details including company and contacts
  • Managing opportunity life cycle: keeping track of opportunities as they move across stages.
  • Managing meetings and tasks for the Sales team
  • Forecasting revenue based on data in Salesforce
  • Capturing leads and tracking them
  • Converting Opportunities to Orders and transferring to external system.
  • Generating quotes from opportunities
  • We are using Sales cloud to do non--Sales related things. For example we have captured employee information and using it as a basic HRMS
  • Salesforce is a generic platform and can be enhanced to support different business requirements. We use Sales cloud to manage the leaves of our employees
  • We also use Sales cloud to capture license information, and track their renewal
  • We are planning to start using CoPilot and Einstein related features to help increase productivity of the Sales team
  • We are planning to integrate Salesforce with additional software using Apex and middleware
  • We are planning to use more documents from Salesforce like contracts and POs.
Sales Cloud is a "sticky" platform. Once a company has all the client data and all the Opportunities in Salesforce, and also once the software is customized to the business needs of an organization, it is very difficult to migrate to another software. All the historical information and training of personnel makes it very unlikely for businesses to transition out of Sales cloud.

Salesforce Sales Cloud Support

Salesforce support is very responsive and is able to guide a Salesforce administrator to the right path. The response time to case time is good.

Also a strong community is available for Sales cloud, that can help out in handling tricky situations
However you do need an inhouse Salesforce administrator (or a Partner) to manage the Salesforce org.
ProsCons
Quick Resolution
Good followup
Knowledgeable team
Problems get solved
Kept well informed
No escalation required
Immediate help available
Support understands my problem
Support cares about my success
Quick Initial Response
None
We did not purchase premium support. We have a good inhouse team that is very knowledgeable. There was no need for us to purchase Premium Support due a strong inhouse team. Salesforce also have extensive resources like Help, Trailhead and Success Community where one can ask for advise and help. Thus we did not need Premium Support.
Sales cloud is a stable product. It goes through extensive testing. I have not experienced any defects when using Sales cloud.

However at times the response time has been slow, or rarely there have been issues in accessing Sales cloud. These are reported at trust.salesforce.com, and can also be resolved by raising a Case with Salesforce support.

Using Salesforce Sales Cloud

Salesforce is easy to use, especially if you are an experienced user/consultant.
It is a large software, so like any Enterprise software it takes time to learn its features. However free eLearning tool Trailhead is useful for beginners.

The interface is modern and intuitive. User can navigate through tabs and access data for different objects.
ProsCons
Like to use
Relatively simple
Easy to use
Well integrated
Consistent
Quick to learn
Convenient
Familiar
None
  • Creating records in Leads, Opportunities, Accounts etc
  • Performing Search to find the data you need
  • Accessing reports and dashboards
  • Performing creation, editing and deletion of data
  • Setting up Security can be a challenge for new Salesforce admins
  • If all users are business users with no technical background, then configuring Salesforce for your business can be a bit challenging
  • On the whole Salesforce is easy to use and get familiar with
Yes - You can download the Salesforce and SalesforceA app from the app store like any other mobile app.

The app has similar functionality to the desktop. A license of Salesforce is required. You can perform standard operations on the mobile app similar to a desktop app like working with accounts, contacts, leads, opportunities, orders, Cases.

The SalesforceA app is used for administering Salesforce.
