Overall Satisfaction with SAP Analytics Cloud

The SAC platform is used to display all of our metrics, KPI’s and dashboards - we use it to analyze and produce critical data points to support operational decision making, but also to ensure that the same data point (calculated in the same way) is consistently shown to each end user.

Pros

  • Ability to consume vast amount of data into meaningful displays and values.
  • The dashboards are able to support multiple models - which enables greater support for data lakes and cross functional models

Cons

  • The end user experience is a bit clunky. It is not as seamless as other reporting/dash boarding tools and can be a bit slow at times.
  • Creating and maintaining the reports/ dashboards can be time consuming as the functionality is very strong, but can be equally as complex at times.
  • Increased data visibility - enabling faster action to be taken regarding kpi targets
  • Less admin time calculating values - also consistent and more accurate results over time
The system can be complex, but there is very little code - most of the effort to use comes down to time and training. The admin side of the support can be heavy depending on requests, but there is substantial self serve options if the dashboards and data is set up in a way to support end user enablement - such as custom or pre populated filter choices.
It was implemented prior to my arrival. I cannot comment on purchase decision.
SAC is a strong solution that offers a high degree of flexibility in its usage. The ability to incorporate excel type based logic and functionality, as well as a myriad of supported models makes SAC a solid choice. Other systems like BI and Tableau have better UI interfaces usually, but the choice of this type of tool should be weighted more towards its output ability - as the data most likely is not going to be accessed by everyone - which decreases the need to train / support too many users

Yes

For enterprise wide analytics showing macro results - SAC does a great job at displaying the values in meaningful and easily consumable way. The ability to have multiple pages within a report- that can either be filtered across the entire report or have filtered functionality on each page supports a wide degree of choice in what the end user is wanting to slice/dice for.

The solution can be sluggish at times which can disrupt the end user experience. The export functionality for certain types of reports can also be a limitation depending on access and set up.
