Overall Satisfaction with SAP Analytics Cloud

SAC [SAP Analytics Cloud] is globally used for all reporting needs. At the beginning the main focus was on FP&A but it has been extended to all other functions.

Pros

  • Live connectivity to SAB BW
  • Using all BW features out of the box (hierarchies, objects attributes...)
  • Ability to widely share dashboards due to data access control coming from the source (BW)

Cons

  • Available visualizations (very limited since the start)
  • Mobile application, allowing side by side widgets
  • Not providing anymore concurrent session license model
  • It helped a lot for cash collection during pandemic
  • FP&A department got a significant productivity increase using templated dashboard across the APAC region
  • It provides a simplification of reports shared across regions
The UI is still confusing, some options are hard to find

  • Integration with Other Systems
Perfect integration with SAP BW was the key differentiator. Allowing to benefit from all BW features and inheriting from all BW functionalities (hierarchies, attributes...)

It is particularly suited for live data consumption from BW for all kind of reporting / dashboarding when data doesn't need to be transformed.
Particularly for Finance, sales and marketing, all types of corporate reporting.
It is not appropriate if external data sets need to be linked to data exposed from BW.
