Overall Satisfaction with SAP Analytics Cloud

We are using SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) as a reporting solution for some of our key metrics and visualize the dashboards to be able to get consumed by a huge community in the organization. One common problem we face with SAC is the live reporting is not up to the standard expected and expecting a really good impact in the upcoming releases.

Pros

  • Dashboarding
  • Digital Boardroom used to be a really appealing if we make use of its capabilities
  • Optimized stories are doing good.

Cons

  • Live reporting is yet to be improved
  • Dealing with huge datasets which is quite common in SAP World
  • Quick features like blending models, concatenation/separation of dimensions fields even for live reporting
  • Interms of ROI we are yet to discover the real potential of SAP Analytics Cloud
  • Users feel really good using interface and problem arises only when dealing with huge datasets from live connections
  • Visualization is good, But reports on raw data is yet to discover their real potential
Really liked the diversed visualization capabilities SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) offers but when exposed them to real time world with huge datasets with live connections the real challenge is the performance of the tool. Backend is loaded with multiple requests from SAC in live connections and impacting the performance of backend systems with the open threads from the queries asked in SAC.
Integration with SAP is the key feature to go for SAC with perks of SAP IQ etc offered from SAP. Usability is quite eased in SAC - makes it easy for users to use and develop their own dashboarding. Cloud is one more feature which enables to the cloud world from SAP and probable future roadmap for the organization.

SAC is well suited for end users to explore data insights without much effort required to learn the tool. SAP Analytics Cloud is currently struggling with the huge data sets specially when live connections are involved and could improve a lot when compared with AFO , Power bi and Qliksense. Evolving as we see it over years and hope to see SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) handling data much efficiently and effectively to report.

Using SAP Analytics Cloud

500 - Mostly in Finance organization we have SAC in use, there are other areas in the organization where SAC is used for front end reporting and analytics. Here we have different apps used as well like Qilksense and others instead of SAC. SAC is primarily used in some financial reporting for some business users.
10 - We have developers inside our organization who will manage end to end interms of reporting on the sap area. We have also some other reporting tools for visualization. Majorly we have analytics in the SAC but there are some applications currently doing planning in SAC. Mostly we are exploring the SAC as a reporting solution

  • We are exploring commenting capabilities still not able to implement 100%
  • Would like to explore merging the models in optimized stories for same widget and enable scripting to have data analyzer view for users in view mode of stories.

We are planning to review the licensing as we have issues with SAC dealing with huge datasets. Analytics area is good for import models but when we have live connections in place that's when we have issue with SAC dealing with huge datasets in live be it BW or be it HANA models in the backend.
