Overall Satisfaction with SAP Analytics Cloud
SAC (SAP Analytics Cloud) is a powerful tool for leveraging stored historical data in the BI module to generate meaningful insights for senior managers and CXOs (Executive levels). Using the SAC report in the GSC (Global Supply Chain) Make module helped to do inventory planning and demand forecasting using BI historical data and Cloud analytics capabilities. It helped to do financial planning for placing Purchase Orders by doing in-advance analytics-based real-time planning for raw or semi-finished goods demand.
Pros
- SAC has well-built integration points with BI data sources, the S/4HANA backend system, and 3rd-party tools to extract and derive meaningful insights from past data.
- SAC reports provide an interactive way to analyze data across multiple dimensions, enabling Leaders to see different perspectives before making a decision. This means you don't have to spend hours doing analysis in different ways to see the actual output for decision-making. SAC provides a single dashboard for multi-dimensional analysis.
- Its user-friendly UI and dashboard-based reports make it easy for a commoner to use. Its accessibility across multiple devices, such as mobile/ laptop, and tablet, makes it an on-the-go decision-making tool, available anywhere and everywhere.
Cons
- Integration with 3rd party system might require not-so-easy configurations and set-up that might be time taking and not plug-and-play kind.
- For very large dataset, the performance issue might be observed that may be a negative as compared to competitor tool's performance.
- While it works seamlessly with HANA and SAP BI dataset, integration with 3rd party systems like Blue Yonder or Oracle Financials might not be efficient when extracting data and creating meaningful insights.
- Using SAC has helped decision-making be faster and inventory management be more efficient, particularly in determining when to raise a supplier order for raw/semi-finished goods for the Production line. Lesser inventory wait time means less warehouse idle time, thus reducing warehouse space costs by 20%. Over the period, the warehouse space cost can be optimized to save more than 30% in rental or space cost.
- SAC, with its predictive analytics capabilities, can pinpoint cost-overrun areas across Business functions, where management focus can reduce such costs and increase revenue. e.g., In Production planning, it can show data insights into bottleneck areas on the shop floor, where overall production capacity can be increased by deploying more machines, automation, or manpower. In a large setup where departments work in silos, it's particularly useful to churn out meaningful data insights by integrating data from various departments. ROI on SAC can break even in a short period if deployed efficiently across different Business functions.
