We use SAP Concur to capture employee expense reports, post the expenses in SAP and pay the employee reimbursements.
Pros
- Concur captures the postings with correct coding.
- Concur routes expenses for approval on a timely basis.
- Concur travel booking services is very efficient.
Cons
- The ability to handle approval substitutions can be improved. The only option is to let the manager escalate. However, there are times that it is necessary to expedite a payment.
- Additional functionality to provide greater flight options can be looked into.
- More timely reporting on issues.

- Concur has allowed the company to have a global process for employee expenses.
- Concur has also allowed for more efficiencies by allowing employees to enter their own expense claims and provide supporting document.
- Management review and approvals are made easier and faster, allowing for quicker payments.
I was not involved in the product evaluation. However, the integration of travel booking, travel expense recording, expense reimbursement payments and status tracking are a high positive for this product. This product allows the employee to set up their own profile, integrates with HR data and also allows employees to enter their own expenses with support. This builds efficiency and is a positive for internal controls.
We use SAP HANA S/4 on premise. We have integrated the HR SAP master data to build approval workflows, determine user cost center, employee manager. The SAP integration includes our chart of accounts for specific reimbursable GL's. Also, payment information, such as bank information, is integrated with the SAP payment of reimbursements.
The empowering of employees to handle their own reimbursements has helped the company be more efficient and transparent. Currently, the product has rolled out in the US. We are looking to roll this out in other countries. The goal is to have this be the global solution. We are currently in the analysis phase.
SAP Concur has provided travel options for booking flights, accommodations, transportation, as necessary, in one single transaction. This has provided efficiencies for both the company and users.
