SAP HANA was used to train on the business analytics subject. It is being only used for the education training purpose by the department.
Pros
- Most importantly, real time connectivity the SAP.
- Fast - because of the in-memory database.
- Better connectivity between ERP and HANA.
Cons
- It might require change in architecture to make it compatible with HANA.
- It has a positive impact, as the training helped the students ready for the job market.
Most importantly, it is different from the traditional architecture, where the database tables gets locked when working on the analytics on the transactional database. It is a novel design and will the game-changer for the next decade.
As with the growing needs of the structured and unstructured data, it is important to have the capability to store it in various format. The distinct industries require different data types and the support for different data types is really helpful and increases the database capacity.
I have personally experienced a faster response on the real-time operational reporting which is making a huge impact.
