Overall Satisfaction with ScienceLogic SL1

The implementation was pretty smooth, but some issues were not resolved during the start-up. The training is also not as comprehensive as needed.
SL1 monitors all the servers (1500+) and network switches in multiple data centers and LAN closets for ping, performance (CPU and network), disk space, etc. In addition, it ensures that applications are running and communicating correctly.

Pros

  • Server performance monitoring.
  • Server up/down.
  • Network connectivity.

Cons

  • SL1 doesn't scale as well as it could.
  • Rules can be difficult to write.
  • It has allowed us to monitor when issues occur and bring applications back up quickly.
Galileo analyzes storage arrays and backups more thoroughly, but SL1 is much better for host and network monitoring. SL1 has some storage monitoring features for some storage arrays, but they are not as detailed.

Did implementation of ScienceLogic SL1 go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy ScienceLogic SL1 again?

Yes

ScienceLogic SL1 is excellent for monitoring hosts for disk space, uptime, and performance and running applications for groups that can control everything on both the SL1 and the server side, but it doesn't seem to scale well when different groups control different parts of the solution.
