What is ScienceLogic SL1?
The ScienceLogic SL1 platform aims to enable companies to digitally transform themselves by removing the difficulty of managing complex, distributed IT services. SL1 uses patented discovery techniques to find everything in a network, so users get visibility across all technologies and vendors running anywhere in data centers or clouds. The vendor states the advantage of SL1 is that it collects and analyzes millions of data points across an IT universe (made up of infrastructure, network, applications, and business services), to help users make sense of it all, share data, and automate IT processes.
With SL1, the user can:
- See everything across cloud and distributed architectures. Discover all IT components—–across physical, virtual, and cloud. Collect, merge, and store a variety of data in a clean, normalized data lake.
- Contextualize data through relationship mapping and machine learning (ML) for actionable insights. Use this context to understand the impact of infrastructure and applications on business service health and risk, accelerate root cause analysis, and execute recommended actions.
- Act on data that is shared across technologies and IT ecosystem in real time. Apply multi-directional integrations to automate workflows at cloud scale.

(1-25 of 148)- Popular Filters
SL1 - Early Adopter
- PowerFlow integration along with internal process refinement allowed for the elimination of an off-shore NOC, driving significant savings annually.
- Over the years, the elimination of many disparate monitoring systems, reducing expense and simplifying operations by adopting standards.
- We significantly improved visibility into our IT landscape through a single pane of glass.
- Pre-built integrations (Power Packs) allow for granular and application-specific monitoring allowing for the avoidance of investments to build new capabilities.
SL1 - strategic monitoring tool of choice
- SaaS deployments reduce administrative overhead
- Appliance based builds simplify and speed up the infrastructure build process
- The platform upgrade process saves a lot of time by propagating to all appliances automatically in the same session. This trims hours off upgrades to previously deployed legacy products
Review
- Need to improve a lot still.
SL1 is continuously evolving and it effectively integrates with other softwares to become Manger of managers.
- Has integrated ScienceLogic with various inhouse tools of customers through Inbound traps, emails, and API feature and hence event correlation could be built
- Have been able to integrate SL1 with ServiceNow CMDB to automate CI population and Build a relationship of CI with INcident, Change modules.
- Agentless monitoring is the best part of ScienceLogic SL1 monitoring, which is asked for by all the customers.
- Customers are happy for what they have other than couple of use cases.
- The objective is to provide a solution for whatever the customer asks, be it cost-based or your own product.
- Workaround and ETA are missing and lacking as part of business objectives in ScienceLogic SL1.
Cognizant Review
- It helped to monitoring the customer PaaS Service
- It has SaaS offering that helped my customer as it has Cloud first policy
- Customization option is user friendly
All in one AIOps solution
- It replaced a bunch of tools and saved license costs such as discovery & event management products. It has the inbuilt capability to perform this requirement.
- Easy and powerful inbuild UI, required less staff to manage it and save lots of maintenance cost.
- Inbuilt OS and Data base which is also a bonus point to save cost and maintenance
- Robust architecture, very less outages makes it really good investment
Science Logic EM7 SL1 Release for Service Providers
- As a service provider, we rely on EM7 for DC monitoring and bandwidth billing
- Science Logic recently changed their licensing model, with significant cost uptick
- The alerting and management layer of EM7 is critical to our business
My view on ScienceLogic SL1
- It has created a positive impact by enabling intelligent detection which helps to identify and restore issues before it creates a huge impact [on] customer business
Good product!
- Mainly makes network management process simpler.
- Great options with respect to functionality.
- Provides one stop solution for all data needs.
- Positive: using automation features to attempt fixes.
- Positive: capable of monitoring devices we had trouble before, and able to build out a service map of all these items.
- Easily scalable
- Single tools to effectively manage the environment
- Easy to adapt to perform any customization requirements
- Provide options to build a power pack to manage any device type which [is] not provided OOB
- For issues/troubleshooting / identifying any known bug the details from [the] documentation is not useful
- License calculation [is] basically done on [the] count of devices, but SL1 counts even device component as devices
My ScienceLogic Review
- It tells us when things have gone wrong or are going wrong which helps us to fix things quickly and inform our clients before they inform us.
Technical opinion
- It is helping to maintenance our product.
Just the beginning
- Expecting 35% MTTR improvement.
- Expecting increase in staff to device management ratio.
- Expecting 30 - 40 reduction in "noise" at the NOC.
SciLo
- Good for monitoring.
- Advance scripting.
- Automation.
ScienceLogic SL1's Benefits with the environment
- We can gain more clients as we were able to monitor all their devices and assure that all network connections, load balancers, and servers are working good
Good tool, not excellent
- Good: agentless deployment, less time with installations.
- Good: good out-of-the-box powerpack for most common systems, resulting in faster implementation.
- Not so good: Specific power packs are very bad, need to create custom snippets/dynamic apps.
- Not so good: huge appliances. We need more hardware to run the database than our production business high load oracle system.
My ScienceLogic Review
- Good impact: having a monitoring system that can be managed by anyone in our organization, not just a developer or NMS admin.
Just a try
- Consolidate all tools and acts as MOM.
- CMDB accuracy.
- Real time based discovery.
ScienceLogic SL1 review and why you should use it
- SL1 has simplified our event monitoring system, taking less time to manage than competitor products.
- SL1 is starting to save engineering time by reducing the effort and time taken to get the information required during the Incident process, reducing the Mean Time to Repair (MTTR).
- SL1 saves time as its discovered asset information can be auto update the CMDB.
- SL1's deep monitoring catches more events before they turn into Incidents enabling a more proactive approach.
- Where we have implemented automated restarts we have seen the engineer requirement to restore service reduced to zero.
- Automated restarts have also drastically increased service recovery time.
ScienceLogic - Enterprise Considerations
- For us, the ROI has been positive, but the specific ROI isn't the money spent on ScienceLogic itself, it is the money invested in the skills of the engineers who now leverage the platform to maintain our high standards of availability and performance monitoring while trending over years (5-10+). Those resource costs and investments far outweigh the cost of ScienceLogic and not only retention but valuation of those skills more the covers the specific ROI on ScienceLogic itself.
- Coming from a history of two decades of homegrown build (e.g. free), the cost of ScienceLogic feels like a questionable value, but when measured across the resources educated to use the ScienceLogic platform, the ability to quickly ramp up those same resources on technologies they may have scant knowledge of and be successful is incalculable.
