Overall Satisfaction with Sigma Computing

It is being used across the company. It is our primary Business Intelligence tool and it allows us to surface reporting in our app. All of our reporting and dashboards are presented through Sigma, both internally and externally.
  • Easy to learn but with enough depth to appeal to more advanced BI users.
  • Constantly updating and improving the tool.
  • The parameter and filter functionality is on point. It makes creating enterprise quality reporting a breeze for our team.
  • The SQL writer is very straight forward and the fact you can write directly in SQL gives Sigma a huge leg up on other BI tools that use their own languages.
  • More visualization options would definitely be welcome.
  • A minor thing, but limiting decimal places on trendline data labels would be a great improvement.
  • Larger bugbear of mine, the filters on a dashboard should react to each other. The filters currently act independently and it causes issues sometimes with our customers.
  • Our ability to get our clients data into their hands in a reliable and consistent manner has dramatically improved
  • It has allowed us to focus on predictive and proscriptive analytics, paving the way for our own data products that have become a new revenue stream for us
There is a little barrier to entry in terms of learning where everything is, what everything means, and how to get everything working. Once you get past that barrier everything falls into place.
Generally very responsive. Attentive to our needs and willing to work with us on new features and functionality despite being a small company.
We have not benefitted from this, the people who actually build the reports know how to write SQL and the people that don't know are only consuming the information we output.
We have used the Sigma to create a standard dashboard layout for our enterprise reporting. The parameters allow us to dramatically reduce BI effort to create reports by allowing us to create one report for a certain subset of data, pass in a client ID parameter, and having only that client's data populate the report. Then we can just have our app distribute the one report automatically across all environments without oversight.
We have definitely benefitted from this. We have a similar system to a dev team where we have production space and working space. Allowing us to restrict who can touch what in which workspace really helps us stick to our process. Having private workspaces allows me to play with new ideas, test theories, and build reports to bring to my team without clogging up our working space with half-baked ideas.
Paired with Snowflake, Sigma allows us to pipe a huge amount of data to our clients via reports or dashboards. This has allowed clients to find substantial cost savings by being able to do mass data analysis. Our ability to facilitate these savings has made us stickier with our customers and increased the value of our company to our ecosystem.
We got rid of Looker because of the difficulty with LookML and the general not-user friendly approach to reporting.

The other systems were either too expensive, missing functionality such as embedding reports, or just didn't have the features and functionality of Sigma.
It is well suited for basically any kind of enterprise-level BI situation. It's robust features and functionality make it flexible enough to fit any situation.
