Overall Satisfaction with Sigma Computing

The data organization delivers answers to questions, datasets, and other deliverables in sigma. The business then uses sigma to generate BI dashboards, model calculations that would have been done in Excel, and create their datasets from our full data warehouse. Some more advanced users create datasets that we materialize back into the warehouse.
  • Live performant access to warehouse.
  • Excel-like sheets live to warehouse with advanced visualisations.
  • Joining disparate datasets together with an easy interface.
  • Accessible to business users.
  • Missing some visualization customization that competitors have - sigma is the Facebook to the MySpace that is Tableau.
  • Documentation is spread over multiple systems and some seem out of date.
  • Increased self service of data.
  • Reduce need for dedicated analysts.
  • Less touch points to get data into the right hands.

Excel users from around the business have found they can pick up Sigma easily. They love being able to work autonomously with live data from the warehouse. Key stakeholders around the business get their answers quicker, are less impacted by timezones, and love their staff having opportunities to shine with data.
Yes. Sigma allows us to easily build dashboards against live data. This allows planned dashboards as well as post hoc analyses of situations. The dashboards can be shared around the business and embedded into our own product.
Sigma's combination of key features from each of these with native dB access under a UI that makes collaboration easy has made it an easy choice for us.
When you are working to build a self-service data culture in an organization, sigma excels. If you are only going to have data engineers and scientists working on datasets, you may be better served by something that fits their needs more. If you don't have visualization or bi needs, Sigma may be overkill for your needs.
