Overall Satisfaction with Slack
Slack is used by our client as well as our department that is working closely with clients. Slack is used mostly by the engineering departments to share progress, some code snippets, design mockups, and documents. From one point of view Slack provides faster communication flow than regular emails. From another view, it has almost all features of and email application and in the end if you wish it can create a regular email thread on chat. There is an ability to set up bots integrated into third party applications that can post updates through Slack.
- Third party bots that can post updates into regular threads.
- Ability to add all sorts of attachments.
- Availability on all platforms.
- Fully functional web version - no installation of application is required.
- Windows Phone version is still in beta and has some issues with notification on my Lumia.
- Documentation on creating post especially from third party application is limited.
- Windows Desktop application doesn't like to be shrunk smaller then particular size that is not always comfortable for me. Some layout issues appear in this case.
- Faster communication and issues resolution.
- Easier communication between departments.
- Sometimes it is harder to find information (solution to particular issue) than regular email thread.
Slack is somewhere between regular emails and Google Hangouts chats.
