We're more efficient and yet communicate more!

Overall Satisfaction with Slack

We use Slack with all of our management staff, and it has drastically cut email volumes which would often reach astronomical levels and not all of the relevant people would be informed of news or updates. This way, if you're interested or implicated in a department, you'll be on the slack channel and will instantly be informed!

Pros

  • Avoiding email communication and keeping internal communication concise and to the point
  • Making sure the relevant team members can have relevant discussions instead of ignoring length emails that seem pointless or overwhelming
  • Allowing you to snooze notifications so you don't have to receive work notifications outside of work (unlike WhatsApp or SMSs)

Cons

  • The snooze function often seems to kick in automatically which I personally don't want (I actually like to be always connected)
  • It's free and has drastically increased our efficiency!
Slack is great for smaller companies, I wouldn't see it working for larger companies so well as you can't easily manage a whole team and the volume of messages would just be too much. Or perhaps you could use it on a departmental basis. We also use it for free so it's great for organizations with a tight budget!
