Best tool for communication and collaboration within the organization
Overall Satisfaction with Slack
Slack at Numerator is mainly used for communication and collaboration within the organization. We can communicate directly with our colleagues or we can create a slack channel or group to communicate with more than one person. The business problem that Slack solve is internal communication by providing a great platform for teams to collaborate. As Slack can also be integrated with other third party tools like GitHub, we get timely update on Slack about the latest release on the GitHub repositories.
Pros
- Slack really provides a great and easy to use user interface with good appearance option like Slack theme and custom theme.
- Integration of Slack with other third party tools like JIRA, Confluence, GitHub.
- Threaded conversation allows us to do a side discussion out of the main flow.
Cons
- Slack should improve their huddle feature. Most of the times when I huddle someone either they are not able to hear me or I am not able to hear them, I have to again join the huddle to fix this issue.
- Slack should include the option to create a table in messages, as it is sometimes required to send the text in a tabular format.
- File management can be improved as it is sometimes difficult to search the old files and documents.
- Slack positively impacted Numerator's business by saving time on communication. Slack provide faster responses compared to email.
- As Slack provide us the search feature, we can quickly search the old messages or important files in less time which increases productivity.
- Too many Slack channels, threads and DMs can sometimes lead to lost information, so it needs to be managed well otherwise it can have negative impacts.
