pingdom
Overall Satisfaction with SolarWinds Pingdom
We are currently monitoring the servers on which our Saas based applications are running and we are monitoring uptime, downtime, availability and if and when an application is down, we are promptly notified so that we can look for the cause of the issue and fix it and keep the applications up and running. We have configured daily, weekly and monthly reporting so that we can identify how many times our applications went offline and what was the total downtime and what was the time to recovery. We are also monitoring the SSL, SMTP, and Response time of our applications.
Pros
- Applications monitoring
- Alerting
- Reporting
Cons
- sometimes sends false alerts
- there should be some threshold value for when an application is not reachable, it should alert after 30 seconds and keep sending hello packets for those 30 seconds and if still there is no response, then it should send the alert.
- too many unwanted metrics.
- better monitoring
- better reporting
- better alerting
we migrated from site 24x7 to pingdom because we have been facing issues with the monitoring and alerting. Our customers would reach out to us first rather than our monitoring tool notifying us that there is a problem. Its administration is also very complicated and compared to it pingdom took very few time to configure to be up and running.
