Solarwinds Server and Application is currently being used by the IT Systems Engineering team of the IT Department. It is used to monitor the health, services and statistics of all infrastructure devices and web servers across the organization.

Pros and Cons

Solarwinds monitors physical and virtual equipment
The setup is quick and its easy to get going for small to mid-size organizations

Monitoring of virtual infrastructure equipment. More options than the following.

Return on Investment

SolarWinds Server and Application Monitor has allowed us to react and identify issues quickly.
The application has allowed us to predict and avoid certain situations and possible critical outages

Alternatives Considered

Nagios and NetBrain

Solarwinds has a more comprehensive alerting system than both products
Solarwinds is easier to set up than Netbrains and Nagios

Likelihood to Recommend

Solarwinds is well suited for our webserver environment. It detects and monitors the health of the webservers and the virtual load balancer. It monitors the services collectively across the web servers.

In Scenarios where attempting monitoring from Cloud/on-premise or on-premise/cloud deployments. This application needs further work.
