Overall Satisfaction with SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor

It is being used by Server Support/Application Support IT groups and IT management. Network Support group uses the modules to troubleshoot server performance and application slowdown issues.
  • Provides thw ability to look at specific application counters/parameters and their values.
  • Pinpoints bottlenecks in application flows.
  • Ability to recommend specific remediation steps for addressing issues.
  • Better application flow visibility.
  • The platform has a positive impact on efficiency within our IT group supporting the infrastructure.
  • No specific ROI measures are in place to quantify it.
It provides a wide range of functionality and it is part of an integrated platform (Orion), so a single pane of glass is an appealing aspect of it.
In our environment, we are using the Microsoft SCCM toolkit for server performance monitoring on top of SolarWinds. It would be desirable to focus on a single platform for that purpose (SolarWinds) but that would be possible if SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor had specific SCCM functionality supported. Otherwise, we have to rely on the use of multiple tools.
