Overall Satisfaction with Trend Micro Worry-Free Business Security

We use Trend Micro on all our MS Window deployments across all organizations. The anti-virus software protects our digital assets and intellectual property. As a cloud solution, it allows us to run lean on hardware which is important to our company. Simple install and uninstall is important for a thin IT Department.
  • Cloud management reports.
  • User management.
  • Administration tools are intuitive and easy to use.
  • Apple Mac client is troublesome.
  • Policies are clunky and difficult to understand.
  • Security Agent dashboard lacks tools needed to remediate problems.
  • Technical support was less than satisfactory.
  • Positive - Cloud managed means we don't need dedicated VM to manage A/V.
  • Negative - Lots of lost time troubleshooting issues with Apple deployments.
  • Negative - Lost time due to inadequate support.
  • Positive - Easy deployment on Windows end points for lean IT department.
Installation and administration tools are fantastic. I found the endpoint policies to be not intuitive and clunky. The endpoint client was difficult to disable when trying to troubleshoot Apple issues and I often had to uninstall and then reinstall which was very time-consuming. Reporting is very useful and I was impressed with the reports I received.
Support is the second major reason we are going to be changing A/V companies. When opening a ticket we would spend a lot of time providing details about what troubleshooting steps we have tried and information about the problem we were having with Trend Micro. The support technicians would often not read or understand the information we provided resulting in them asking us to perform troubleshooting steps that were already done and described in our initial support request. Additionally, responses would only come in the middle of the night so small issues would take days to solve.
Trend Micro was initially chosen as it was what our MSP suggested. As we have grown we have realized it doesn't work for us and have been migrating our endpoints to Webroot SecureAnywhere endpoint protection and have been very happy. It is less expensive and improves in many areas that Trend Micro lacks.
Sophos has been used before and is a great product however there is a high price tag.
Trend Micro is well-suited for a Windows-only environment where you do not need to protect any Apple products. We are going to switch away from Trend as we are 50% Apple for our Creative department. Trend would work well for an MSP as it has good cloud tools that need a little improvement.
