Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We utilize the UKG Pro suite for all of our HRIS needs. We have the following modules: Payroll, Core HR, Recruiting, Onboarding, Benefits Administration, Cognos Analytics. We attempt to use UKG pro to facilitate a seamless hiring process from application to first day, and then once the employee is employed with us. Once employed, we also use UKG for communication internally, open enrollment support, ACA services and monitoring, etc.

Centralization

One of the biggest things we have noticed that we can centralize under UKG Pro is the hiring process. We are currently working on the onboarding module, and making sure it is built out correctly and then will work on a pilot project to launch it within our business. Once we do, we will be able to onboard employees virtually, hire them virtually, and then when they start on day one, all of the boring paperwork is already done, and we can work on relationship building. This isn't groundbreaking, but many businesses don't actually do this, and we are trying to actually get up to speed in 2025. Hoping this project with UKG Pro will help us do that.

UKG Personal Experience

For me, this was ACA Management. I came into my current position with little to no experience with benefits, and absolutely no experience with ACA. I was able to have a series of conversations with a benefits administration expert who helped me understand the ACA process for coding the 1095c forms, filing them, and ensuring compliance with the IRS. That was a huge weight off my shoulders being new to that position.

Usability

I would recommend UKG Pro because it really is easy to use for the end user employee. We have employees in urban and rural areas, and both are able to understand and utilize the product relatively easy. Of course there are some pain points and misunderstandings along the way, but typically it's on the user's end.

Likelihood to Recommend

UKG Pro is a well suited product that has a robust platform. It CAN do whatever you want it to do. Some of the things it does particularly well are Business Intelligence Reporting through Cognos Analytics, ACA Monitoring in Core. However, there are some limitations. The product doesn't work sometimes, particularly when it comes to tax rules and laws, which can have some serious implications for companies. UKG will know about the problem, and take a long time to fix it - like MONTHS or upwards of a year. Our payroll manager is consistently working with them and having to have issues fixed - almost to the point of us hiring another vendor to audit and manage this service.
