Overall Satisfaction with Unitrends Data Center Backup and Recovery
We use Unitrends DCB on appliance model 928S, for multi-site centralized backup and recovery. We have been quite pleased with the versatility and reliability of the Unitrends hardware and software, and especially with their technical support solution and staff. We are on our second generation of their solution, and vetted them against several competitors each time we have purchased. We are a heavy VMWare environment, and enjoy the benefits and inclusion of file and system level recovery of our entire hosting infrastructure base. We have had the need to recover individual files and entire systems for a variety of reasons, and have been successful every time.
- Emulate VMs for file recovery.
- High backup/recovery success rate.
- Excellent technical support ecosystem.
- Good network and IO performance.
- Need to support larger drive sizes on our offline archive (DR) tier.
- Improve scalability.

We found the Unitrends solution to be a better fit than Legato, Barracuda, Dell/EMC and other solutions. They are relatively price competitive, and frequently offer good upgrade/expansion financial incentives. They could improve on the scalability of solutions, instead of forklift upgrade. Overall a good value for our money, to include a simplified management interface and top shelf technical support.
