Overall Satisfaction with Unitrends Data Center Backup and Recovery

We use it to back up VMware hosts and include backup copy for disaster recovery. We have implemented, ran audit tests and file recovery. This has been implemented for approximately a year in the current environment and I used it previously for approximately 15 years.

Pros

  • Virtual machines restore.
  • Audit test.
  • Incremental check points.

Cons

  • Updates are a little involved especially if you get too far outdated.
  • Backup solution for quick restore.
  • Testing of upgrades with backup instead of snapshots.

  • Veeam Backup & Replication
They are both similar in nature. I think Unitrends Data Center Backup and Recovery may be easier to configure and monitor. Veeam seems to need a bit more product understanding in order to fully implement.Unitrends Data Center Backup and Recovery is more intuitive. Tech support on Veeam may be slightly better.
Cost effective compared to similar products. It works reliably and you don't need to watch the processes to make sure they complete as other with systems.
