Overall Satisfaction with Unitrends Recovery Series Backup Appliance
We have a 712 appliance at our primary location that is used to back up our servers on various time schedules throughout the day. We then have this 712 replicate to another 712 appliance at a remote branch. At the end of each month, we use the archive appliance to save the most recent master backups to a hard disk drive that is then stored offsite at another branch for one year. These appliances give us access to immediate file, folder, or system recovery for any server that is being backed up.
- Able to schedule each server/file with its own backup schedule.
- Extremely easy to get set up and running.
- Recovery of files/folders/servers is fast and easy.
- Getting the replication set up to another appliance was a little tricky to get accomplished. Once completed, it has been running without any issue.
- If a backup does fail, we need better messages to help find out why the backup failed. Current error messages are pretty cryptic and we usually have to get support involved.
- Better communication on when updates are available. Seems that the only current option is to log into the appliance daily and have it check for updates.
- Helped us recover deleted files.
- Helped us recover files that had been locked due to ransomware.
- Great ROI. Our previous system used tapes for backup. These were slow to back up and pull information from. Also expensive to replace.
Felt the Unitrends appliance gave us the most flexibility for the type and way we wanted to do backups. It was also reasonably priced compared to others.
