Veeam Data Platform - A Good Fit For The World of Education

We use Veeam Data Platform to ensure we have resilient backups to safeguard our most important asset, our data. Our Multi Academy Trust has centralized its local data so that we maintain 321 data redundancy should we need to recover files share objects, exchange items, or bare metal server configurations. We send our most critical data up to the cloud console for an offsite copy.

We currently utilise the Veeam Data Platform to backup 32 virtual and physical workloads. We have 2 backup schedules, week day and weekend and send a copy of all our data up to an offsite data center in offpeak hours.
The Veeam Data Platform is certainly what we envisaged at purchase and has exceeded our expectations notably with the amount of inbuilt antivirus/malware detection and protection during backups.

We chose to switch to the Veeam Data Platform to consolidate a series of outdated backup technologies (DLT tapes!) and high expense cloud service provider solutions. Veeam Data Platform has complimented our central network topology by sitting at the heart of our data centers where it extrapolates our most critical data with ease and relatively low cost for a small to medium sized organization.

The Veeam Data Platform has enabled us to connect to our service provider to send nightly backups to a secure offsite encrypted data vault. enabling us to demonstrate a 3-2-1 data recovery strategy. this has enabled us to obtain certification and insurance discounts with our vendors. Our stakeholders insist on high data protection standards and procedures. Veeam Data Platform ensures we can archive this.

Veeam Data Platform has enabled us to utilise NAS/File-share backups from a number of servers and easily pull our data in to a central point.
Recovery of these file shares or individual objects is simplistic and very intuitive. A large amount of options are available to assist with file and permission recovery.
