Overall Satisfaction with Viewpoint Spectrum

We use Viewpoint Spectrum to manage our construction accounting as well as the Sub Kiosk to manage subcontractor invoicing. Spectrum provides us with insight across the company of how we are performing collectively, how our jobs are doing, and overall cash flow. By using Spectrum, we have connected visibility into all of these items, within one platform.

  • Subcontract Kiosk can be glitchy - allows subs to overbill on subcontract billing items
  • Document Imaging can be glitchy - often says users do not have adequate security to view/add documents, but they do - if they sign out and back in, it works fine
  • At times, support can be lacking - sometimes case responses are delayed or you get an incorrect answer
  • Spectrum has increased our efficiency due to the module integration
  • Spectrum has also increased transparency across the company
  • We do spend a lot of extra time helping subs use Sub Kiosk due to software issues
There's a little bit of a learning curve, but once you've been working in the system for a while, it becomes second nature. I would say that out of all of the other software that I've personally used, Spectrum has been the easiest one to pick up and learn quickly.
We have been able to connect systems that were previously broken/disconnected to provide us with greater visibility into production and issues. We will be implementing TEAM soon, which will bridge the gap between the field and office personnel. I'm anticipating the TEAM implementation will increase productivity as well, helping employees to share the same view of project management.
I originally came off of the American Contractor when it reached its end of life, and my company converted to using Spectrum. American Contractor didn't give us half the visibility that Spectrum does - we still had to rely heavily on outside systems and processes to gain a full understanding of company performance - with Spectrum, we don't need to rely on outside systems.

Yes

Spectrum is great for users who need to have visibility across job costs as well as financial modules (AP/AR, etc.) - honestly, Spectrum is scalable for both small and large companies. It's especially good for companies that are starting out, who want to plan for growth, without having to upgrade software down the line when they're bigger.
