Overall Satisfaction with WatchGuard Network Security
We use Watchguard Fireboxes from their network security range as perimeter firewalls at various customer sites and locations. It helps us efficiently and intuitively secure our own and customer networks. This is thanks to an intuitive and easy to use management software and web interface. Additionally we have also deployed their endpoint detection and response applications across a wide range of devices and found this to effectively identify threats and isolate malicious hosts giving us an extra and important layer of additional security
- Intuitive and easy to use management of firebox devices, tasks that can be overly complicated with other vendors are simple and easy to manage with Watchguards
- Quiet and efficient network devices for small businesses. The T range of fireboxes is perfectly suited for small businesses providing a secure experience in a neat package.
- Watchguard fireboxes provide a seamless experience across the whole range meaning you can create a policy on a smaller Tbox and then if you decide to upgrade the policy and settings can be seamlessly imported into a larger model.
- We find the access points are weak in wireless performance compared to the competition. Poor signal, dropouts poor management system.
- We find the pricing model can be quite costly sometimes, it would maybe be good if they offered a standalone box with only basic functionality that does not require a subscription.
- A lot of key features are left behind a paywall requiring a higher subscription. Things such as geo location which is a relatively simple feature is not available on the base subscription.
- The main positive impact is that it does a great job of preventing cyber-attacks that could end up costing the business money.
- It also improves ROI by increasing the efficiency of staff as configuration changes are easy to make.
- We have found that with some EDR deployments the performance overheads have created more work for staff resulting in a negative impact.
Yes, we work with Nuvias to purchase all our Watchguard products and services. We find them a fantastic company to work with they always promptly provide us with required Watchguard products and services and have a fantastic account management team. They also handle our support queries in a prompt and efficient manner.
The licensing model has benefited in some ways at customer sites where we have utilized all of the features within the licensing. However in some sites that only require basic functionality think the option to buy the box outright on its own would suit a bit better and allow us to sell boxes to customers that are subscription averse.
