Use Cases and Deployment Scope

WebEx OnPremise was used to communicate with internal and external users, using a pure meeting format and, sometimes, taking control of the other user's PC for support purposes.

OnPremise versions are not as capable as cloud versions, but due to restrictions of the financial services industry and company's way of doing things, it was the selected option and it worked very well for a small deployment.

Pros and Cons

Multi-platform access.
No user needed.
Easy to deploy for an OnPrem solution.

Video quality for OnPrem is not HD.
Types of meetings are restricted (no Events, Training, etc.).
Restrictions regarding capacity of hardware and software upgrading.

N/A for my role.

Usability

It would have a 10 if it could be integrated with video systems registered in Cisco Unified Communications Manager as CMS did later on. It had an audio integration with Cisco Unified Communications Manager and is understood since it was mainly a meeting solution, not a video solution like WebEx Cloud could be considered.

As a WebEx OnPrem solution, once again, it was really almost the only option to be considered.

Support Rating

It's really hard to write a review of Cisco's Support saying something new for somebody, because it always is a true differential regarding other vendors, at least in my experience. Anyway, with the OnPrem solution, once it was deployed, I don't recall needing Cisco's support for the solution, maybe some consulting in certain cases.

Likelihood to Recommend

Webex Meetings OnPremise is very suitable for heavily restricted industries because it provides the best meeting solution available, with all the Cisco support behind it. In the case I'm reviewing, the entire solution was badly sized because it was in a 5000+ company and the capacity of the hardware was only 250 concurrent participants. The product itself is really good for an OnPrem, not comparable with the WebEx Cloud solution.
