Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Webex meetings [are] used for virtual meetings, especially when participants outside of the organization are involved.

Facilitate large virtual meetings
Easy to mute participants

Chat functionality remain cumbersome to use
Webex meetings consume more CPU than similar [programs], slowing down performance
Slow performance exacerbated by the use of blurred backgrounds or similar

Microsoft Teams

The main advantage of Webex against Teams is the ease of access for users outside the organization thanks to early adoption network externalities. Many other aspects are less advantageous

Reliability and Availability

Generally ok but occasionally unavailable/specific meetings not accessible. Once accessible usually reliable (no sudden stops)

The product is highly scalable: it established itself as the main venue for business meetings within the organization in a matter of days upon the start of the pandemic in March 2020 + thanks to easy-to-use plugins / good client services for externals it is also easily [adapted] for external meetings with counterparts from organizations which would not have Webex in their suite.

Performance

Performance is not great compared with competing tools, e.g. Microsoft Teams. The chat function, for example, is not great. CPU usage is very intense, especially once virtual backgrounds are added. From time to time, there are issues loading the program + muting and unmuting in the course of a conversation can be an issue.

Likelihood to Recommend

Thanks to early adoption in our community and the possibility to join via the plug-in app, Webex meetings is well suited for meetings with participants outside the organization, while within the organization other, more agile tools would be preferred
