Overall Satisfaction with Webex Meetings

We were using Webex Meetings for phone and video conferencing and webinars, and eventually we integrated it with our Cisco Phone system to allow our users to have soft phones as well. We used it to address the lack of video sharing from a previous provider. We eventually retired Webex Meetings and replaced it with Teams.

Pros

  • video conferencing
  • audio conferencing
  • screen sharing

Cons

  • cisco soft phone integration
  • app performance - frequently crashed / froze
  • when it was first rolled out it increased performance in all departments by allowing more efficient collaboration
  • the licensing was more expensive than MS Teams and Webex Meetings did not offer as much value for the cost
  • Cisco Catalyst Switches
  • Cisco AnyConnect
We ran into some difficulties at first during the rollout of Cisco Anyconnect for VPN because the user base was accustomed to using Citrix Virtual Desktop and the biggest issue was getting our users to take their laptops back and forth between the office and home and training them to remember to disconnect from VPN when going back into the office- we ended up going with Palo Alto Global Protect as a replacement for Cisco Anyconnect
The ability to work remotely allowed our users to continue to be productive when offices were closed due to the pandemic and has allowed many of our users to maintain a hybrid work schedule which has helped increase employee wellbeing
We had a lot of resistance to going to hybrid after having been fully remote during the pandemic - when it ended, many employees did not want to come back into the office - but after some time, the users have adjusted to hybrid schedules
We originally used Skype for Business / Lync and evaluated Webex Meetings and Webex Meetings offered much improved functionality for screen sharing and phone and video conferencing. Eventually we dropped Webex Meetings for Teams because Teams had better integration with M365 products, but Teams was equal to Webex Meetings for productivity and use cases, Webex Meetings just costs significantly more.

Do you think Webex Meetings delivers good value for the price?

No

Are you happy with Webex Meetings's feature set?

Yes

Did Webex Meetings live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Webex Meetings go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Webex Meetings again?

No

Webex Meetings would be well suited if you have a Cisco phone environment and you want to add video conferencing and audio conferencing, though I feel like it is only appropriate if you don't use Microsoft 365 products because Teams offers much of the same functionality and integrates better with M365.
