Adaptive Planning is a scalable FP&A tool that allows the company to make adjustments to budgets and forecasts with speed and efficiency. Instead of creating numerous excel files, Adaptive Planning has live cases of forecasts, budgets, and actuals. It is sheet based like Excel, but you can also use to plan all of your financial statements.

Workday Adaptive Planning Data Driven

We use Adaptive Planning as a source of truth for headcount planning. We store all of our personnel information, historical, terminated employees, and also budgeted headcount that carries over every month. Recruiters rely on the stored information for headcount planning. Overall, headcount reporting has been easy due to the system's capabilities.

Usability

Adaptive Planning is sheet based just like Excel, meaning that anyone who is proficient in using excel can be trained easily using Adaptive Planning. One of my favorite features is that you can utilize the different sheet and dimension templates from Adaptive Planning to export to excel, and then import the sheet relatively easily.

Whether you are headcount planning, expense planning, etc. Once the product is implemented, Adaptive Planning is powerful to use. Teammates can collaborate together in making adjustments to formulas and forecasts, and you can compare different versions/scenarios of different forecasts. It's also very easy to import sheets and dimensions as their templates are clear to use.
