Overall Satisfaction with Zix Email Encryption (ZixEncrypt)

Our business unit is a HIPAA covered entity and we needed a secure mail platform in order to remain compliant. This is just for our business unit and some Corporate HR and Financial teams at this point, but it will probably roll out globally in the next year or so.

Pros

  • Very easy to use.
  • Works just like the secure mail feature you would use with your bank or healthcare.
  • Cost effective.
  • Very good support when you reach out to the Zix Support center.
  • We have a hosted solution and it was very straight forward to implement.

Cons

  • Should be able to import contacts
  • Should be able to scan pictures for PHI
  • should be a mobile app like all of the big free email apps like Goggle, AOL, Yahoo etc
  • Keeps us compliant with HIPAA privacy and security rules and PCI DSS requirements.
  • Since it is easy to use, it was easily adopted by our user community.

[It is well suited for] sending PHI securely. [It has] the ability to scan emails for PHI when the user doesn't click the Send Encrypted button. Mail is scanned and when it detects PHI, it automatically encrypts the mail. Sometimes we don't need it to go out secure but have had emails get identified as having PHI in it. Always better safe than sorry, but it can be cumbersome for the recipient.

Evaluating Zix Email Encryption (ZixEncrypt) and Competitors

Well, now that I know how it works, I would interview and demo less products and look for a solution like ZIX.

Excellent product!!

Yes - Zix did all the set up by simply following our form we filled out with our mail system, ports etc., before we even began on our side. The Zix side was complete and waiting for us. Then we worked together to implement all the changes we needed on a conference call. Very easy implementation.
Change management was a minor issue with the implementation - none, it was very easy for us
  • Getting the keywords to be picked up on the portal
  • Nothing else as it was easy to implement

Tthe implementation team did a great job and when others things came up, our implementation POC from Zix (Carl Goad) was an excellent resource!!!

Configuring Zix Email Encryption (ZixEncrypt)

Very easy and not complex at all
Just follow Zix's directions as they were very good.
Some - we have done small customizations to the interface - We need to have a "paperclip" view on sent mail and they're doing that. We want to notify users that they didn't pick up the mail after 30 days and then again, 30 days before expiration.
No - we have not done any custom code
Not really, Zix guys did a great job and has excellent people on their implementation team.

I didn't know that was an option, but I don't think we need it as we are having great support from Zix
Yes - very responsive and if they couldn't fix the problem, they explained why
During our implementation, Carl Goad was an excellent POC for our implementation and also for any tickets we have opened since. We have had several times where Zix was able to figure out where the breakdown was. Our side, the receivers mail system and even Zix once and awhile, but 98% of the issues we had, were either our problem or the company or person we were sending mail to. Support is excellent and they have a world class 1st line support desk

Using Zix Email Encryption (ZixEncrypt)

Because it is very easy to use for not only the sender but also for the receiver that is picking it up on the portal. If they were to implement the suggested add-ons I listed above, my rating would go up to 9

  • Setting up the profile on the portal is very easy.
  • If something gets quarantined, it's very easy to either delete it or send it.
  • Users getting notified that they didn't pick up their message on the portal.
  • Setting up the company user profile wasn't easy if I had to do it on my own, but I didn't as we had a great POC (Carl Goad) for our implementation.
Yes - it does, but it has to be used with the device browser, it would be great if they could create an app to use it.

Zix Email Encryption (ZixEncrypt) Reliability

If we are going to expand, Zix makes the changes on their end and nothing else. Very nice.
We have the DR solution so I haven't seen any outages.
We just use the hosted secure mail solution and have not seen any response issues with their product.

Relationship with Zix Corporation

I had Al Dankovich and he was excellent!!! He was a sales rep that could actually answer most of my questions and knows the product through and through. A great resource they have there!
Because Carl Goad was excellent to work with and a great resource for Zix.
[I'm] not sure how to answer this as I don't want to put dollar amounts in here. It was an easy negotiation and I am happy with the costs as compared to others.
No, Zix did a great job.
