Overall Satisfaction with Zoom Workplace

Zoom Workplace has a clear ADVANTAGE when one uses MOBILE DATA for web conferencing. It retains excellent operating quality on all parameters (audio and video quality, screen sharing, recording and such) when mobile hotspot is used for internet access (Speeds as low as 7 MBPS also work well, so far). Google meet, its alternative (currently being phased out at our end), fares badly in the above setting with audio quality itself being below par and numerous instances of disturbing noise or "echo" (participant hears his voice echoing!!). We noted this gap in "brave talk" as well. Thus we tend to use Zoom Workplace for North American, European, Middle-eastern and Asian calls and Google meet only in settings where broadband data are available. Jitsi Meet was an option but we did not find it very user friendly. We are yet to test webex and MS teams, though.

Pros

  • Battle-tested for all situations - low internet speeds (5-10 MBPS for small group calls), calls using mobile (and not broadband data), higher age group users and more
  • #1 POPULAR and Very Intuitive User interface
  • Screenshare option works as expected
  • Works on lower end hardware and even windows 7!

Cons

  • Could definitely have more inbuilt AI options - such as advanced voice and video editing (for recordings or maybe at the live level itself in the long term)
  • Threat from larger players like MS and Google (once they get better at this niche) - so buyers may switch if that happens. Too many different systems make it difficult to manage the overall information system backbone. For e.g. We all use MS products and would tend to retain MS teams for web conf. vs. yet another new company just for video calls
  • Mission Critical for situations mentioned earlier (mobile data/low bandwidth situations)
  • Popular - Preferred by customers worldwide (all age groups)
  • It's definitely ROI positive. However at a scale of 100+ users one has to consider relatively cheaper alternatives - especially webex and MS teams
Battle tested + Popular brand "Zoom", in a nutshell. While MS teams and WebEx are popular in the corporate world, it is Zoom Workplace that has a much broader and overall appeal. Jitsi Meet seems to have the least recall (overall) so far. And given the marginal price differential, using Zoom Workplace currently makes perfect sense

Would you buy Zoom Workplace again?

Yes

1. If one is "on the field/travelling" often and tends to use mobile data for web conferences on your laptop, Zoom Workplace is the best bet 2. It also comes well recommended if your audience (more than 2 people in conf.) is from a variety of nations (battle-tested). The only factor against it is the higher investment vs. nearest competitor

Zoom Workplace Training

1. For basic usage (video calls, screenshare, whiteboard, chat, participation mannerism, call recording) only two training sessions led by an internal expert were needed to prepare everyone 2. Yet another session covered the android app and some advanced features 3. The next phase involves AI driven features. The product is easy to learn for our niche - however if one needs advanced features, it is recommended to hire an expert and save time or review their relevant videos

Zoom Workplace Reliability

We have used Zoom Workplace on a windows 7 ("dumb terminal") computer with complete ease (Around 6 months before) . This says a lot about its adaptability and "lightness" (not a "computer/system hardware resource hog"). To our surprise, it worked well for small group meetings on android phones with RAM as low as 4 GB (Skype for android , on the other hand, never loaded on 6 GBs as well - and with that experience we ignored MS teams). While we do have well equipped phones, some users from emerging markets may have 6 GB RAM android phones and we wanted that adaptability at that point in time
1. Versatile - Can operate on a variety of hardware and is light and nimble computer software 2. POPULAR and hence very easy to institute in the business 3. Integrates well with other software (however we would still want to test MS teams despite lackluster experience with Skype - from Microsoft) 4. No incident of "software crash/instability/stalling" ever reported so far
None noted in the past 3 years. Besides Zoom Workplace updates are very frequent. Users should ensure that updates are applied immediately
