I think 15Five is well suited for any organization but especially well suited for larger teams and/or teams that are in various geographical locations. For small teams that work closely together on a daily basis, the user may not see the same returns since there would be ample opportunity for communication.

Pros

  • Flexibility to set your questions by company/team/individual.
  • It is a weekly reporting platform that also has the functionality to do end of year reviews. Having continuity makes the end of year process much more streamlined.
  • Allows individuals to set, report and record progress on weekly goals. These users can then go back later and review these goals and progress throughout the year.
  • Performance management is a key feature that allows me to efficiently track and manage my team's performance. Instead of a one-time, resource consuming performance review cycle, Paycom allows me to add notes throughout the year so end-of-year performance reviews become a snap.
  • We recently implemented Paycom expense which has streamlined submitting and approving team and department expenses. A key feature is the ability to create expense templates for monthly recurring expenses, saving valuable time and energy.
  • Benefits management simplifies what could be a complex process to research, understand, and enroll in company sponsored benefits. In particular, a single dashboard displays all of your employee benefits making it easy to find what you're looking for and make changes along the way.

Cons

  • Although I mentioned customization as a positive aspect, it could use some improvements. The backend process of updating the questions, and setting them to a certain schedule, can be a bit confusing. This process could be streamlined.
  • The commenting process can be a bit confusing. If a person is tagged/mentioned in a comment, they are typically sent an email notifying them. However, it can be difficult to locate where you can reply and continue the conversation. Although a simple issue, it seems it could be easily rectified.
  • I would like to see more integration of the team portion of 15Five. It seems this feature is not as prominent, so you can easily get stuck in just your specific 15Five information.
  • The Paycom app used to be more time consuming to log into, however, they have already changed that.

Alternatives Considered

We did not review other products
First of all, the customer service of Paycom is exceptional. This was not our experience at Paychex. Paycom’s services are much more user-friendly.

Return on Investment

  • 15Five is one of my favorite tools. It has allowed us to keep track of the general morale of the business and to address small issues before they became large issues
  • It has also allowed us to streamline our review process, making everybody's life easier!
  • It has had a huge positive impact with the efficiency of our HR team and has freed us up to spend more time working on more strategic initiatives.
