Good for letting your investors, employees and others know at a glance how your company is doing. The interface is clean and organized well. I just wish more of the app's functionality was available for testing and implementation. "Coming soon" is not really encouraging when we already have been waiting for a year or more.

Sigma

Sigma Computing is very good in cases where non-technical end users need to interact with base data that is already relatively denormalized. It allows them to join data between tables but there are pitfalls that leave people at real risk of making mistakes that could cause inaccurate results or poor query performance.

Pros

9 Spokes

  • Grouping several apps in one place for easy viewing.
  • Clean dashboard interface that looks uncluttered when viewing several apps at once.
  • Setting up the apps is a breeze when the platform supports them.

Sigma

  • Clean UI makes the powerful system approachable and inviting to begin sandbox testing.
  • Modular approach. You can pivot and pull and plug away so much. The permutations are endless with lots of visualizations and integrations to keep the data and insights flowing.
  • Great for multi-user and getting people set-up across the org.

Cons

9 Spokes

  • Integration with apps that are listed. Some of them are not supported yet and it seems the wait is taking longer than I'd like.
  • iPhone support. It would be nice to have this in the app store. Not available as of 04/25/2018.

Sigma

  • I'd like to be able to simply copy a couple rows or columns out of Sigma and paste them into Excel or Google Sheets, where I can color code rows, break info out into different tabs by customer, or delete data after I've addressed the customer linked to it. Currently, I can only copy/paste 1 cell at a time directly from Sigma so I export the entire report, filter it in Excel, and then organize the data further (as mentioned above).
  • A ctrl+f feature would make it easy for me to see if a certain customer is in a report before I take the time to export it. After exporting, I complete the steps mentioned in my first comment.

Because we are very satisfied with the product and would most likely renew because of the services it provides. It is a tool that you bring into your organization and let it change the way you analyze your data, present your data and share you date within the Respective teams

It opens up a world of reporting and analysis to the greater population of employees, all without the need to understand/be proficient in query languages. Overall, if a user has even a basic understanding of popular Excel functions, they'll see value in Sigma. The usability score drops from an 8 or 9 as the UI color palette make finding objects somewhat difficult. This has been the #1 negative feedback we've received from new-to-Sigma user and greatest barrier to quick adoption by those that currently use other tools

It depends, it loads quickly for smaller dashboards but when loading larger amounts of data it takes more time to do so

Support was helpful in the beginning but no longer needed because I didn't use the software as much. The experience that I did have with support was very friendly but not enough to give a good review. If the support team was called for initial setup, video chat or messenger app was used.

Sigma

Support is direct, responsive and up-front about things that are bugs. Their support team generates a lot of trust and confidence with the end-user. This is partially responsible for high adoption (also a large reason we failed with adoption of some of the other competing services to Sigma Computing). The support team responds quickly... but also the development team fixes many issues within hours of us reporting them. There are some cases where bugs take a long time to fix, but not very many of those cases. And support is always ready with a work around if it can not be fixed quickly.

Alternatives Considered

I actually chose QuickBooks (currently using) and Method (used for a month) before deciding that 9 Spokes is just good for looking at a few apps in one place. I'll keep checking back with them to see if they have improved. I wouldn't be surprised if 9 Spokes improves their product within the next 6-12 months.

Sigma

In truth, we use all of these other tools, as they provide different ways of looking at the data. The big think that Sigma allows me to do is to not spend so much time with my head inside a SQL terminal, poking around in the dark looking for answers, or trying to remember how my hundreds of DBs relate to each other. I find that it is a complimentary tool to most others that we use.

Sigma

  • Expose data to more people in the company.
  • It's still a gap for those nontechnical people to use Sigma if the query is more complicated or they don't feel confident in their results.
  • The data team can save time in data pulling requests and focus on other tasks.
