Coda is a unified workspace platform that transforms documents into interactive applications by combining documentation, spreadsheet functionality, relational databases, and AI-powered automation—enabling teams to consolidate multiple tools and automate complex workflows without writing code. The platform operates as a block-based document system where every page can contain interactive tables, buttons that trigger automations, live formulas, and conditional logic, all rendering from a shared…
I walked away from so many other products that I tried primarily because I wanted to have a task and productivity tool that allowed me to re-envision my 'data' at the task level. I wanted to be able to have Gantt views and dashboard views and then dive in deeper with comments …

Todoist, at least when we were using it, felt more geared toward personal use and task orientation. It did not have the team productivity functionality, automation, task tracking, etc. Airtable is a great database but requires a second system for task management. ClickUp can …
ClickUp has very complex features, it is not only used as a place to list the recorded work but can process and become an evaluation in the team of less and more for the next work, and many tools and integration in ClickUp that exceed similar applications that I have encountered.
ClickUp’s task management first approach, gives it a leg up on tools like notion and Coda. Microsoft struggles to offer one centralized tool that can do all of this in one tool.
Coda is not as great as ClickUp or Notion in many ways, but it surely has a better user interface and pricing in my view and allows good collaboration. However, integrations work much better with other competitors as compared with Coda, and would prefer others if pricing was …

The price point is most attractive, they have a dedicated team of support agents/doc makers that provide valuable templates, and it really was the best option to fit our current needs as a startup team who will be scaling and the product can scale with us in the long run.
The user of Handshake takes a certain amount of user computer literacy and the user needs to be resourceful. When building our site, I needed to google quite a bit. On the contrary, if budget allows, Handshake developers will do it all for you.
I think it is great for task management and project management. It allows for much easier cross-team collaboration. Personally, I found it useful as a project and team manager to better keep track of all the deliverables that have been assigned to various members of the team. It is less appropriate to use as a CRM even though the website mentions it can be used as one, it still lacks many features which a full-fledged CRM would provide.
Coda is great to build a place for your users to go to and see information. It is easy to navigate through and the variety of content creation is great. However, it is not always easy to create what you want and there is a lot of playing around and learning. Coda also sometimes misses some functionality which is expected. For example, downloading a list of users that have access to the platform. Being able to send push notifications when a new page has been created etc. Overall it is a good tool to use just be prepared to invest time!
The main reason we got Handshake was to display visual gadgets for our accounting systems. We always provided spreadsheet type reports, but pictures and more engaging. Attorney gets a dashboard in real time of where they stand financially.
Additional use as FAQ's in different departments in the firm, that is, accounting, IT, and office services.
Task Management - you can easily track details and notes of the tasks, deadlines and important dates, and notes and key links for the task. This has really leveled up how we manage projects and tasks.
Operational efficiency - by tracking where time goes the most or which tasks go the most, it enables you to identify areas where the most time is being spent and if that process needs to be improved or changed to streamline workflow.
SOP/Document storage - it is easy to create documents for standard operating procedures and processes and have a file to easily locate and reference them.
Files for projects or clients - ClickUp allows you to create separate files, folders, and subfolders to easily store and locate any corresponding tasks, projects, or important documents for that specific project or client.
AI overview - for tasks or documents with longer note sections or that have spanned more time and have more notes involved, ClickUp has an AI overview tool that helps with summarizing.
It takes getting used to in terms of how the formulas per column is implemented, in contrast to how we build tables in Excel. For organization/team purchase, it would be worth considering having a training for the core team of users. Right now, we do a lot of self-learning.
Inability to email charts or image without these objects being hosted on a third party. The community has been great in providing workarounds but it would be much more convenient to be able to have such ability natively.
APAC Support. I'm based in Malaysia, due to timezone differences, even with a livechat implemented, the support for each step and conversation takes up to 24 hours per response. Having some hours covered in our timezone would greatly improve customer support experience.
It has been a game-changer in terms of project tracking, as animation is a demanding product that requires multiple layers of analysis, revisions, tracking, scheduling, etc. ClickUp simplifies many approvals as anyone can easily add items, and you can tag the people who need to look at them.
Coda is definitely something that has been proven to drive positive impact in our organization. We have many divisions that can benefit from this that we have yet to explore. It would definitely be worth renewing.
ClickUp is generally very usable once the workspace is properly organized. The flexibility of views, custom fields, task structure, dashboards, and automations makes it easy to adapt the platform to different teams and workflows. The main reason I would no rate it a 10 is that the amount of functionality can make the interface overwhelming, specially for new users. large workspaces with many custom fields, notifications, views, and hierarchy levels can also require some training and ongoing governance.
There is a little bit of a learning curve on where to point and click to add in different elements and make edits. But it is still very manageable once you get the hang of it. I do still have some issues with some of my connected pages updating each other when I don't want them to sync. So I'll end up editing one page, and it will make the same edits on another page.
For over a year ClickUp was unavailable to us just twice for a couple of hours. I would say for a system this big and working globally that was a minor issue. They managed to fix all the issues within a couple hours and then it was back up and running perfectly fine.
The speed of ClickUp is average to be honest. This is one of the biggest flaws of the system, sometimes it's also lagging a little bit but we also have a lot of documents, lists etc. on our workspace. However, with the next version of ClickUp I've seen they are planning to increase the speed by almost 500%, probably by changing the technology, so I am more than looking forward to it.
We haven't done any integrations - the initial part of our experience we found that for docs with complex formulas, the page tends to load slowly but in recent months, Coda has improved and optimized the loading times in general and we generally don't find any problems in terms of speed anymore.
I started using ClickUp when it was what most would consider a baby company. There were the occasional bugs that made working in ClickUp a little bit of a headache, but the support feature allowed me to chat with a real persona and communicate my issues. I would always get prompt support and someone willing to really help me, not just point me to FAQ pages. Not feeling like a number really makes a difference.
Mainly due to timezone differences. I think Coda's support in general is well implemented and executed. They know their stuff and are helpful. But since I'm not in the same timezone, solution rates are slower for me, and that's not something I prefer. I work in customer service, too, and more often than not, time is important. Shortening the solution time would be a much greater experience.
There are multiple guides on literally all of the functions you can find within the system, therefore it's easy to learn anything you'd really like to use, starting from project and people management, down to Gantts, mind maps, time tracking, inviting Clients as guests to work with you on the projects and so much more.
Start small. Don’t try to build the most elaborate plans first. Resist the urge to get into Gantt charts if no one is used to them. Just get work written, add dates and assignees, and start getting used to it. If you did not use a work management tool before, you need to be gracious with yourself about the fact that you likely do not have the muscle memory for working this way yet. But you will get there.
And leverage people who know it if possible. Look for ClickUp experts and vendors. They can really supercharge your effectiveness at building the tool out and speed up the process.
I'm relatively inexperienced but this experience is meaningful. It would have been nice to have some guidance from Coda so that we understood more on Coda's purpose and potential.
ClickUp is more robust and customizable than the ones we tried. I like Notion's user interface but seems more powerful to track progress. We didn't need the timetracker part of Monday and Asana seemed a little too cumbersome. So ultimately we went with ClickUp because it had the most potential... potential that we still have yet to harness.
While all of the products listed have great features and platforms, there was always one thing missing from them that I would need to get from another application. Coda was the first one we used that really combined some of the best parts of those products and allowed us to use it in one place. I also appreciate the flexibility of creating your own framework and workflow, unlike in other tools where you have to follow how they capture data and organize projects.
Scaling with ClickUp is superb. If you create a workflow best suited for your organization then it's all about creating new accounts and teaching the new employees the workflow you're using. It's that simple. There is no black magic when it comes to Clickup.
I think scalability is definitely good here since it's based on number of doc makers. Implementation into each dept becomes simpler. That being said, due to the nature of our work, we find it easier that we have a "super user" and then a team of other doc makers. This would make the doc creation and management more efficient.
