Amazon QuickSight
Amazon QuickSight is good when you want to interrogate data quickly and the data is in the AWS eco-system. QuickSight is not a great option if you want pixel-perfect visualizations with a lot of functionality. Overall, it's a solid solution but needs to mature a lot if it wants to become an enterprise solution.

If you're a company who's been in business for a few years, and can afford a Looker license, then I wouldn't really look anywhere else. We've looked at a TON of data analytics/BI tools over the years and Looker is, by far, the best we've seen. However, that comes with a cost. If you're a new startup, Looker probably isn't appropriate for you because of the cost.

Pros
Amazon QuickSight
- Amazon QuickSight is a really easy program to learn how to use.
- Amazon QuickSight allows our team to customize the data using the various data sets, which makes the available reports incredibly powerful to our organization.
- Our organization has the ability continually adjust our reports and build new reports as business needs change.
- Even though our organization has different reports built for different departments, each department can still access and understand reports from across the company.

- Incredibly advanced analytics tool that is even more capable if you learn how to use LookML which is Looker's custom programming language.
- Quick access to the raw data that is being visualized allows you to spot check for data integrity.
- My usage with Looker is limited because of our integration but, having seen their updates over time, the integrations with Slack, Salesforce, and other tools appear to greatly improve organizations' workflows.

Amazon QuickSight
- You can not use it as a primary reporting tool as many of the features are missing.
- For complex reports for business, users need to get help from an IT person.
- Business users time will waste in developing reports, it should have a version where we can promote the report from one environment to other.
- Sharing report with the user who is not added in IAM is complex.

- Mobile viewing is HTML based, not always highly viewable.
- Basic operations can be difficult to achieve. There is a function called table calculations which allows this.
- Running on a single server, the entire instance can slow down if even one user schedules a large dashboard.

We've been very happy with Looker so far, and all teams in the organization are starting to see its value, and use it on a frequent basis. It has quickly become our accessible "source of truth" for all data/metrics.

Looker support specialists are heroes. They are knowledgeable, smart, and always vouch for your success. The availability is super quick, and even if there is no current solution for my problem, they will address it and voice it as feedback for a product.

Alternatives Considered
Amazon QuickSight
QuickSight is best suited to augment your other BI solutions, not as a primary tool. It still very immature when you compare it to products like Tableau, Qlik, Microsoft Power BI and others. However, it is very easy to get connected to data sources and a good way to interrogate data if the data is in the AWS system or database

Looker stacks up very well against the other tools we have evaluated and used. All the tools have their own pros and cons. Looker had a better edge in terms of visualizations when we chose to use it. After several updates, other tools began to have newer features. Looker still stands competitive.
