Boomi
Legacy systems often need to be replaced or integrated with new applications in order to modernize businesses. A strong API strategy that avoids custom coding and third-party programs is essential to enable this integration. Boomi's new-age connectivity and integration solutions ensure safe, secure, and robust integration. In the age of information, businesses are under more pressure than ever to be able to collect and manage large amounts of data. This data comes in from a variety of sources, including personalized devices such as voice assistants and wearable tech. While this data can be immensely valuable to businesses, they often lack the infrastructure necessary to handle it effectively. This can lead to data build-up in databases or silos, and can eventually lead to problems with integration and security.

Replacing data. If we've put something in a category or a bucket that is no longer named that anymore because we've evolved with the times and we want to rebrand everything, it makes it way easier to do a quick import with the new terms.

Great tool for client management, sales tracking, cases studies. Using is as the source of truth for all client communication. Allowing more integration options for cc and ACH payments. Right now the options are limited and only integrate with strict processing capabilities that are not always in the businesses best interest.

Pros
Boomi
  • Pre-built connectors to almost anything which greatly reduce time to release of your integration needs.
  • Easy to use development platform with drag&drop features. Non-technical people could build simple integration processes in no time.
  • Great user community where you can get quick help if needed. Boomi people hang around there a lot.

  • Extracting Salesforce attachments in original file format! I do not know of a tool that can do this better, or more efficiently! This is a huge benefit to companies that would like to extract attachments from Salesforce for tasks like data migrations.
  • Cross-object data extract within one file. You can pull data from related objects as long as there is a populated lookup from the object you are extracting, to another object (Child or Parent).
  • UI is simple and requires very little to no training. Given the acquisition of Mulesoft by Salesforce, I would not be surprised if DataLoader.IO is rolled out as the new global data loading tool for Salesforce.

  • Allows use to bring external data into Salesforce as zero-copy
  • Is able to present data using standard Salesforce reports familiar to our users
  • Allows us to establish multiple relationships between our CRM data and the external data to contextualize the imported data.

Cons
Boomi
  • More from a development perspective. It is always difficult to use the properties features. It takes a while to understand how the data/variables can be used across an integration.
  • Dell Boomi should also invest more on API Management and not just seen as a ETL,ESB tool.
  • Should roll out features more often based on users reviews.

  • At the moment, I can't find a way to rename jobs. This would be useful to organize what was previously created hastily by techs in a rush.
  • A preview of the job, especially upserts, would take a great deal of stress away from some of us (especially those who are not so confident in their ETL practice).
  • A native vlookup equivalent may be a welcome addition.

  • pricing or costing visibilty, we can't estimate what would be consumption this month and suddenly we get surprised
  • CI/CD can be improved, that looks a difficult and hard
  • Also sandbox comes with many limitation so very hard to replicate production like environment to test

Dell Boomi has provided us with the ability to connect our campus together using our various existing platforms. There are many supported features and have yet to run into something that we cannot do. Its user interface is very intuitive which would allow users to begin developing fairly easily. There is a myriad of resources available

It is easy to use and doesn't require a security token, so I enjoy using it. It also doesn't require any download or installation, which is sometimes a blocker to gettingthings done if the company has limits. also, the dataloader.io is easy for other people to pick up, so others can have visibility into the data jobs that have occurred

Usability
Boomi
My IT and Finance teams have noted that setting up the tool is a breeze. Dell Boomi has never caused an issue during a system implementation that I am aware of. We are pleased with the tool and recommend others consider it.

Dataloader definitely skews towards a more technical userbase. Users should be adept at manipulating data in spreadsheets and decipher JSON formatted error messaging. Additionally, there is a good amount of time need to set up the environment to map to the pertinent fields we are trying to adjust. While I would not recommend the typical account manager to use Dataloader, a typical operations manager should have no issue.

Most of the daily use features, are very usr friendly, intuitive, every end user can learn how to manage and operate basic activities such as enter information, send an email, send a campaign, create an email marketing template, run a report on the renewals for the month, open and close a support case, create new account or a new contact, etc

Performance
Boomi
The atom sphere takes a time to load, when I open a process or when I open a log. One more slow processing is when I import objects from NetSuite.
About the performance of processing, it looks like Boomi takes a time to initialize some things such as connectors before starting the process. This is also performance we have.

Dataloader is made for updating, inserting, and deleting of contacts. For these operations this tool is excellent.

Support Rating
Boomi
Boomi support was responsive and knowledgable, however being a closed cloud service, it doesn't have good community support. We found the learning curve to be steep and there aren't avenues like google, forums, or blogs that provide community driven insight into the product or how to go about designing solutions using the tool

The utility itself is very self-explanatory and has enough information to guide you through the process. It has an intuitive experience for those familiar with data loading/exporting utilities. Outside of this, they have a Zendesk help center to log support requests and provide documentation to help guide you troubleshoot any issues that may be occurring.

We decided to go with Dell Boomi because another department in our company was already using the software. We did not research competitor applications to use as our business solution. Dell Boomi was very easy and quick to set up, so once we decided to use Dell Boomi for systems integration, we had it set up and running within a few working days.

I have used salesforce inspector also for operations like import and export of data from custom objects but it doesn't work well when you have data in huge numbers. Instead of using Salesforce Inspector, one should go for Dataloader.io if the number of records is huge to be dealt with.

we have evaluated Snowflake, adobe rt-cdp as well. They also offer a very strong capabilities but the Data 360 is more suitable for us because of the same Salesforce ecosystem. The main key factor is without any custom code we were able to include it into our automations. And ofcourse with agentforce already in plans, we had to pick Data 360

  • It has allowed us to scale significantly without having to add headcount, specifically those geared towards data entry. We went from a $10m ARR business to $200m ARR business with the same amount of Order Processors and 12x amount of transactions by leveraging Boomi to perform a lot of the work, and then having the Order Processing team to simply review that the transaction was processed successfully.

  • HUGE time saving. When we need to clean or review data, we used to have to do it line by line. This can do the work within excel and make cleanup/management an afternoons work as opposed to a week.
  • Rollback what you did/change/deleted is relatively simple if you remember to back up the data you are manipulating.

  • Salesforce Data Cloud has a positive impact on me as a realtor because it is easy to generate reports on customer data and see what is needed to be bumped to the next level. We have to earn a certain commission by the end of the year and it makes it easy to see how close you are
  • It has a positive impact on keeping track of customers because it is nice to have it all in one place which is a nice time saver
  • I like that you can even see customer info from other agents making it nice to compare and try and pass others
  • Makes the customers journey smooth sailing because everything is in one place
