Considered Both Products
Brex
Chose Brex
I did not use other products before Brex.
Chose Brex
We use and thoroughly enjoy both. One we use as our main bank and Brex as our credit card provider. I'd say they serve different purposes (with Brex we get points), whereas Mercury we mostly use for wire transfers. We did initially start using Mercury because we needed a …
Chose Brex
Brex was one of the first corporate cards. It seems like there are many copy cats out there - hard to know how different they are but I appreciate Brex's customer service and easy to use UI. I think worth evaluating competitors as this market grows, but we're pretty locked into …
Chose Brex
I was not a decision-maker, but I believe it's the card reporting analysis that is best for the company.
Chose Brex
Divvy allows you to get hyper focused in on how much individuals are allowed to spend. Honestly it is comparable to Brex, but is more well suited for micromanaging organizational spend.

Brex is good because I am able to give my employees limits that match our budgets and I don't …
Chose Brex
Brex has been a great choice for our business and truly is a holistic software solution than a line of credit for a growing business. I also like how Brex is continuing to develop more features rather than maintaining a static product offering.
Ottimate
Chose Ottimate
We like the automated coding that Plate IQ provides vs. bill.com. It also helped that all of our locations could be viewed on the same dashboard. When you have five separate business all being managed by the same team, it's important to have dashboard functionality across all …
Chose Ottimate
PiQ costs $250K less than netsuite (at a minimum). Unless you have/need netsuite, no comparison.
Bill.com isn't targeted, and doesn't give the functionality that PiQ has for analytics by SKU.
Expensify is the closest in ease of use. They are not competitive; just very similar.
Chose Ottimate
We used Docuware first; great experience; however, it was not made specifically for restaurant clients like Plate IQ is. Plate IQ does a much better job of recognizing common items, and they've continued to add a function that is important for restaurant owners. Restaurant …

A great corporate card for startups. Easy to use and set up, easy search and track spending. I would recommend it to tech companies looking for an interface and experience that vastly improves on existing banks. Also great to have a large line of credit compared to what's offered traditionally

Plate IQ has been a perfect addition to our company. We had invoices with grease, creases, folds, shaded characters, etc, coming into our office all the time. The ability to scan, or even better, have invoices come through EDI, has completely changed the way we are able to handle invoicing.

Pros
  • Rewards - The rewards were the main reason for us switching. Our previous card provider did not have a good rewards program.
  • User Interface and experience - When a charge is recorded on the Brex card, users immediately receive a text notification asking them to send a picture of their receipt. Brex automatically attaches the receipts to the charge which has saved our users a significant amount of time.

  • Payments; ACH, VCard and check. Domestic only however
  • SKU tracking (the AI part that works reasonably well)
  • Invoice Processing Automation (Think bill.com on steroids)

Cons
  • Their Quickbooks integration just updated and is now a nightmare.
  • It would be nice if I got more fraud review activities for my employees.
  • I want them to go back to their old export system into Quickbooks

  • EDI options could increase.
  • BIll pay module could be improved.
  • Some support issues could be addressed sooner.

It has worked well for us for at least 5 years so I would anticipate us keeping Brex

Usability
The usability is pretty great. I love the UI / UX for uploading the Memo; at times, I do not even need to be inside the platform. I simply use Slack.

Support Rating
Prompt and always extremely fast to respond. I also think the intuitiveness of their solution negates the need for much support

They have a dedicated support person for each customer who actually knows the product.
Turnaround is usually within an hour or faster.

Return on Investment
  • No fee wire transfer.
  • Net 60 credit card terms is good for our cashflow.
  • Fast and easy employee credit cards saves us time.

  • In my opinion, it has had zero impact on ROI now that we are paying for an additional year.
  • Another negative is that we've spent a lot of time discussing this issue with Plate IQ, to no avail. They feel it's appropriate to charge a company for an entire year of service even though said company emailed to cancel prior to the end of the first year of service.
  • We also wasted a lot of time onboarding this company only to find out that the software left a lot to be desired.
