If you are looking for a tool that tracks traffic, content performance, author performance, and reader retention with a relatively simple interface and gleaming graphics then this is for you. Trickier things like report generation are made much more seamless now, and except for some friction in the sidebar navigation –– I find it to be a pretty flawless tool that I would recommend to friends or others in the media field. It's just a basic necessity to understand content these days, so Chartbeat is a great tool at that!

Siteimprove
Utilizing Siteimprove is appropriate and well suited if you are using a content management system that is decentralized with a lot of different users responsible for specific types of content. Under this scenario, those users can be susceptible to making mistakes or not using best practices for accessibility, SEO, etc. Siteimprove would allow a select few top administrators to identify and correct those mistakes, in essence acting as the central gatekeepers for the website. Siteimprove would be less appropriate if your team is extremely small and you are spread thin with a lot of diverse and numerous job duties. It's worth noting this because although the tools may be great, you need to make sure that you and/or your team have the time necessary to devote toward using it to apply fixes and improvements. During the pandemic, our team became a team of 2 and there was almost no time to utilize Siteimprove. Now our team is back up to a team of 6 which allows for the ability for more website governance and utilization of Siteimprove.

- Inclusivity. Easy to create and maintain inclusive and high-quality content, protecting, protecting our brand reputation and reducing the risk of compliance lawsuits and fines.
- I like the site analytic tools built-in. It's much fun to work with and much more intuitively generates accurate analytics.
- Easy to use, the UI/UX is amazing and easy to customize according to users' preferences.

Cons
Chartbeat
- Source of traffic needs improvement. Search and social make sense, but "internal" and "links" is a grey area. It would be helpful to define those with an organization and provide an information icon so users can easily remember what each of those buckets is tracking.
- More ways to customize the real-time board. For example, with video content, that's great that I can see a user has started a video, but what is the completion rate, was that only on O&O or can that track Facebook, too?
- Would like to see demo (age) information included as a way to slice the data so I can see what's working with my older and younger demo.

- I don't like that there are different navigation paths to go from point A to point B. When I want to navigate to a specific place, I have more than one way to get there, which means I have to make a decision about how I want to there and I'd rather the designer make that design based on what would be most efficient for me.

I gave Chartbeat a 5 for a renewal rating, because, while it delivers clear and understandable content, Google Analytics also provides many of the same features for free. For a small to medium website, I believe it would be more cost effective to use Google Analytics. A website with a high amount of traffic, however, could merit spending the money on Chartbeat to maximize their potential.

It's easy to use and understand, which can't be said for all data-tracking sites that I've used in the past. It's easy for me to navigate and I didn't need to Google anything in order to find what I needed

I have had limited experience of support for Chartbeat but whenever I have needed help it has been there. Recently there was an issue of seeing different forms of data in real time - app and otherwise effectively, and the issue was being clearly dealt with and communicated back to us.

I've used support often and it has been responsive, thorough and considerate of our needs. I can get a tech right away, they understand the issue, and work with us to resolve it. Often the problem is with the site we are trying to scan, sometimes it is with their product. I appreciate that they go beyond support into continually helping us implement SiteImprove in more places with 3rd party integration.

Alternatives Considered
Chartbeat
Chartbeat really remains the gold standard in the tracking, measurement and display of realtime engagement metrics. If your site has sufficient audience benefit from immediate changes in content programming, display and design, it's a great tool with a highly refined and intuitive user experience. Plus, it's API allows for broad integration.

Siteimprove
Siteimprove provides richer features when it comes to how granular you can define policies and metrics for search engine optimization and content relevance. It is also much easier to set up and maintain the sites that you want to administer. However, pricing wise is more costly which can be a constraint for smaller organizations.

Chartbeat
- I do not have access to the financial arrangements in place, but I would view Chartbeat as a key tool for the company with significant advantages over other analytical software.
- Continued enhancement of the product, for instance picture previewer, would provide additional value to the service.
