[Emburse] Chrome River is a good product for a global client because it has multi languages, and its car program as well as cross border approvals, etc. are important to a global customer. Conversely, for a non-global customer, [Emburse] Chrome River may not be appropriate, as that company could use a non-automated solution.

ExpensePath

ExpensePath works great for mid-size companies with multiple locations and multiple levels of approval needed. It doesn't have the bells and whistles of more expensive options like Expensify or Concur, but they excel at being attentive to customer needs and simple to use.

  • Chrome River is a true enterprise (4K+ employees globally) expense management solution.
  • Internal administration options allow most requests to be handled in-house; however the CR help desk has been very good to work with when a more complex request comes up.

  • ExpensePath responds within minutes and helps solve issues right away. Vik and his team are always open to how they can better their product.
  • ExpensePath's app is quite simple and straightforward, making it easy to teach to even our technology averse employees.
  • Though we don't use it extensively, we appreciate ExpensePath's internal expense reporting functionality, which provides good insight into our employee's spending.
  • They correctly integrated our Sage Intacct GL accounts and dimensions directly into the system, so no additional mapping was needed after setup.

  • The analytics are not to user friendly. The ad-hoc reporting is very complicated, as the headers do not clearly indicate what you are going to get in the report.
  • It would be nice is when you hovered over the "add expense" (plus with a circle) button, it told you what it does. End users have a hard time finding the e-wallet in their report when it doesn't automatically open.

  • They're in the process of developing the ability to directly reimburse from ExpensePath rather than cutting a check through an ERP. This feature would be very helpful.

Chrome River is easy to use. We needed little training for our users and instead pointed them to Chrome River's Help Guides which are clearly written and easy to understand. With tools SNAP and the ability to email receipts means we can be completely remote when submitting reports.

We have had those that can't believe the ease of use and excellent user interface, many required little to no training. Others required more support, but most likely require a lot of systems support. The mobile app looks exactly the same as the desktop app, therefore the navigation is the same. This is a huge plus for adoption and change management.

I think support could be better, before Emburse took over we were able to use the dashboard to help with issues, which has been down for months now. We had a point person who would help up with issues and now we just get whoever. Also, when we need help for something it seems like we are being sold something instead of being helped. Every change now costs money even if it is an issue with the software which I don't feel should be a charge to the client.

I have not reviewed or evaluated any products recently. When we were looking at vendors for a T&E package, we did meet with Concur. They were a much larger vendor, but we felt that we might get lost in their world. We chose [Emburse] Chrome River because they seemed more interested in catering to the customer. We are a customer service focused business and we like to do things are way, so we decided on [Emburse] Chrome River.

Expensify was a nightmare. We used it for 8 months and couldn't wait to find something else. Their customer service was unresponsive and rarely got back to us in a timely fashion. They never solved any of the issues we were having with integrating to Sage Intacct, and their "smart scan" feature never worked once. Their app was painful to navigate. On top of the many reasons already listed, we switched to ExpensePath because they're not flashy. ExpensePath delivers a great product without the veneer of many of its competitors.

  • The first goal of our finance department is to make all of the tools we use to gather information integrate with our main ERP, Sage Intacct. ExpensePath's integration has been flawless and saved us hours of manual expense entry.
  • The second goal of our finance department is to make all of the tools we utilize easily adoptable by new users. ExpensePath is one of the simplest, most responsive apps we've ever seen. Even those on our team who are averse to adopting new technology like ExpensePath.
