DHTMLX
Rapid development of web applications: DHTMLX provides a set of pre-built UI widgets that can be easily integrated into web applications, which makes it well suited for developing applications quickly. DHTMLX is well suited for building enterprise-level applications that require complex UI elements and data visualization. DHTMLX is less appropriate for Simple applications: If you are building a simple application that does not require a complex UI, DHTMLX may be overkill, and you may be better off using a lighter-weight framework.

Mendix excels in scenarios involving Business Process Automation, making it a strong choice for applications requiring workflow automation, including processes like request approvals, document management, and other business workflows.Conversely, Mendix may be less suitable for projects that demand highly customized solutions with extensive custom coding. Its primary focus on low-code development may not align well with the requirements of projects that heavily rely on intricate and specialized coding.

At first look we were not sure if WompMobile was well suited for E-Commerce because they had very few examples of E-Commerce sites within their portfolio. We spoke with the team at WompMobile and those concerns were tossed right out the window. I can't think of any scenario where WompMobile would not be able to provide the right mobile solution.

  • We're able to really easily develop different views that are very specific to a customer's needs or customer's different types of user needs. So for example, the production managers can have a certain view that's relevant to them and then certain line managers can have views that are specific to them that allow them to run different scenarios which they define. So it allows us to easily build customized apps for each different type of user.

  • Delivery. On time delivery of design and updates.
  • Access. Whenever we have a question or need something communication is immediate.
  • Best practices. Our speed and SEO scores are outstanding. When Google changes algorithms our mobile site is already prepped for it.
  • Maintenance. If assets pulled from our main site create problems on mobile we are informed right away.
  • Improvements. WompMobile regularly investigates and offers improvements to functionality as the mobile space develops.

Cons
DHTMLX
  • We would like to have more cell controls (like a Date Time Picker, Date Range Picker)
  • In the cell editing mode we would like to have a better integration into the Angular world

  • Earlier versions lacked in UI/Ux. This is still improving.
  • Since everyone and anyone can create custom add ons (widgets), Mendix could improve their quality checks (but not as rigid as eg Apple).
  • Upgradeability used to be somewhat of an issue. Version 7 looks to be handling this better than previous versions.

  • Support Options. We struggled a bit with not having a 24x7 support option from WompMobile. Even though we haven't had to use it, and a global company like us would feel better with a 24x7 support option. We even expected to pay more to have that comfort for "just in case" scenarios. However, their speed in responding to your production issue has been phenomenal, and it makes you wonder if the current model is way better than a 24x7 support option where they might have to hire less costly labor who would take longer to resolve your issue.
  • Test Environment. We struggled not having our test environment connected to their test environment. They have a test environment where they show you the changes, but it's not accessible through your test environment. It's a different concept.
  • Reporting. WompMobile doesn't have a portal or dashboard for customers to see the hits and performance metrics of their site.

Usability
DHTMLX
With regard to the two major components we used, namely the tabular representation and the graphical modeler, we were able to effectively replace the existing building blocks of our applications by integrating them. We were able to retain existing functionalities and benefit from a significant enhancement with what DHTMLX offers natively. This made it easy for us to get our end-users to adopt the change.

A 10 would say I have nothing to wish for. A 9 means I haven't seen anything better. This tool really helps you in the whole creation and maintenace cycle, so from requirements to building/modeling to testing to deploying to capturing feedback.

Alternatives Considered
DHTMLX
We looked at Kendo UI for ASP.Net Core as it has a Gantt chart but it was not as close a fit to our requirements as the DHTMLX Gantt Resource Management component. We'd have had to do much more work to make this fit.

Mendix would be my preferred system all the way. The system is designed for these kinds of works. I've worked with WP and DNN but they should be used just for websites. To create an app for a business value, I would suggest Mendix. Also, the offline capabilities of Mendix have greatly improved since the deployment of Mendix 7.13.

  • It helps to speed up application development because of its low code by the fact that it's low code. It allows professional developers to focus more on specialized application development rather than the more routine application development that business IT and super users can do for themselves with some coaching from the IT department. So it's just allowing the more specialist professional developers.net, for example, Java in our organization to focus on more complex engineering application developments.

  • Our mobile site was pretty basic, but once WompMobile changed the site, we saw increased results across our site. Our site runs smoother than before, leading to more positive customer experiences.
  • The site runs faster as well, allowing our customers to shop longer and quicker.
